Post your 11 second combos

I hope to say goodbye to the 11 second times. Prior time best for me 11.06 to date. I removed 132 lbs and elimiated several air dams in the engine compartment and wheel wells.

132 lbs should get you 1.32 tenths off your et...I think the formula is 1/10th et for each 100lbs lost (or gained)

The great site for racing calculators is www.wallaceracing.com
The have calcs for almost every different combination.

Ok guys....need help with another question. Without taking the heads off, etc, etc,....I put a air pressure gauge on my spark plug hole and cranked it over....
I am showing about 150psi (evenly) over all 8 cylinders.
Any idea of comparison of mere cylinder psi to actual compression ratio.
I have read and heard that 190-200 psi is pretty hard to live with pump gas but that is all I have heard.
Have any of you guys (that know exactly what your compression ratio actually is) done a simple air pressure psi test on your cylinders....
Let me know...thanks.

Just finished putting together so haven't been to track yet but hoping to go 11s.

1969 GTX

.030 over 440
10 1/4 compression
stealth aluminum heads untouched out of box
509 cam 1.6 rockers
demon 850 double pumper carb
pertronix ignition
2inch headers to 3.5 inch pipes all the way to the mufflers
727 with manual v/b 3500 stall converter
dana 60 w/ 4.10s
90/10 shocks, pinion snubber and 275 60 15 mickey t drag radials

no roll bar and full interior

Think this 11s material?

With good quench and plug location engines can live on 93 at around 165psi. Unfortunately the 440 head is one of the worst in this regard. We run one at 160 that barely pings at full timing. Its a heavy car with 3.23 gear and tall tires. 9.7-1 with .040" quench and a [email protected]" cam.

thanks for the reply and input

Just when I thought I was done with the brakes. I come to find out that the existing master cylinder isn't going to pusy enough fluid. I just ordered a new recommended master cylinder from summit recommended by Strange Engineering. B3359

Thats close to my old 906 headed 440 build that I used to have in my 3700 lb 63. It had the MP .557 cam and the Holley Street Dominator intake with an 850 DP. It ran a best of 11.49 @ 116 on 92 pump. If you click the link in my sig you can read about that 440 build I used to run. Further down has info on the 493 in my 63 now. Ron

IMG_1411.jpgIMG_1392.jpgIMG_1372.jpgIMG_1400.jpgWell this is finally ready to take to the track after a long winter of modicications new disc brakes all 4 wheels new master cylinder, lots of areo stuff to make for better air flow. New hood. tookoff the giant air scoop . total weight loss was 153 lbs this car is down to 2967 lbs from 3120. I am hoping this will be my last 11 second post. 11.06 is my current best.

Yes good luck Canyon. To bad we dont live closer as we would be a good race if you dont go to far faster then 10.60's. But best of luck to your 10 second quest. Ron

Well I dont think this will run 10.6 but I could hope for that. If its not raining this weekend I will give it a shot.

View attachment 238900Well, as I shared with you guys a few days ago that i was going to replace my M1 single plane and 950 Ultra HP race Holley with a INDY hi volume "dual plane" intake manifold and the 950 carb with an 850 Mighty DEMON carb. Well....the need for speed got to me in the middle of the night and low and behold the other morning I called INDY CYLINDER HEAD and ordered up a set of INDY SEZ aluminum heads to replace my iron heads. The car is in the shop right now getting everything installed. After installation we are going to put it on the CHASSIS DYNO and fine tune the jetting (Air/Fuel) ratio (they installed the "bungs" on each of my headers so they can screw in the Air Fuel Sensors) and adjust that Air Fuel Ratio for the best horsepower and reset the timing on my MSD for the best horsepower. CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WE FINISH AT STRAP IT TO THE CHASSIS DYNO.
I will let you all know with a post here about the results.

With the motor being only a 440 stock bore & stroke and only 10-1 pistons the car only ran 11.87 (best ET) and 112.5 MPH.
I am hoping for anywhere between 11.40 and 11.50 and I will be happy.

The car is a full fledged Pro Street car that is 100% street legal (current Califoria Plates) and insured with Hagerty. I even drive it periodically to the Hamburger Joint and down to the Auto Parts Store.

It probably would run high 10's (like you guys do with the 500" stroker motors) if I had a 500" motor but I dont. I envy all you 500" guys.....

I am pre-registered for the "March Meet" at Famoso Drag Strip (Bakersfield, CA) and also the "Mopars at the Strip" race at the end of March at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Any of you guys at either of these races look me up...Thanks

Mike it looks great,
you stepped up & I hope you can get all your expecting out of her too
also about 50-70lbs lighter off the nose, that will help some too...

good luck at Famoso & Vegas

The car looks great. I want to get down to bakersfield this year but I don't think it will be till the latte part of the year when they have nostalgia races. I am going to Sacramento next Saturday to test and tune (mostly test) brakes and get the new discs seated properly.

Had to rain check. Valentines Day and I know better. Going next Saturday. I will share the news as soon as I get back. Strange they don't have gas at the raceway. I have to go to Sonoma to get my fuel then go to Sac.
