Post your 11 second combos

I ran it last night in Sonoma rane 11.0. What a nice night no wind, not cold ( I wish it was colder ) oh well. Last race of the season is next Wed night. I hope to find a ten second number then. I can remember soe nights at the track everyone was in there cars it was so cold. Last night felt like summer.... I hope thats not a bad sign. I weigh in at 190 lbs so 3300 with me in the car. This year I am going to change the windshield to lexan and add light weight front disk brakes. Should make for a good winter project. Lighten it up a bit more.

Technically, youd lose 6 tenths, bob-o. 1/10th per 100lbs.

sounds like its time for a race car or a bigger motor... lol i'd really hate to see that nice GTX get wacked up for a few tenths...

True. But I bet you can lose 300 lbs easy with bolt ons, granted expensive bolt ons. Fiberglass deck lid and rear bumper are worth 60, though as I found out, the trunk will no longer be weather proof. I wonder what fiber doors and lexan side glass would be worth (after adding the cage). Gotta be worth 50 each. I hear a tubular front suspension can take off another 100ish.

I met a guy at englishtown that made his own molds for carbon fiber does on his 55 Chevy. I swear they didn't weigh 10 lbs, they were like inflatable movie props.

Some summit racing seats have to be worth 50lbs for the pair. Course I just spent several thousand $$ for ya. :)

You can get a B-body down to 3100 with no outside body mods except a glass hood and lexan. Mine is 3120. Still has stock floor, chrome bumpers, 2 batteries, mega block, Dana, 2 carbs, fire system, full interior minus the back seat. Cut and chop anything that you don't need or that does not show.

Pretty soon I won't be talkin' to you guys anymore. I'll be with my new friends in the 10 second room!

Get a small girl to drive it for you. Some at the track have that advantage. And there good at it. probably lose a hundred right off the top.

Thou This was Wed night at Sonoma Raceway November 5 2014. Calm night 11.0 1/4 mile. Seem to pick up a tenth of a second with closing up my valve lash. The chevy in front of me is a young girl that is one of the best racers out there. All she does is drive maybe she weighs in around a hundred pounds.

Is that a GPS on the left?

yes it is a gtechpro have yet to get it to work .....

My 63 goes just over 3700 lbs with me in it. Its all stock other then the glass hood. But I added frame conectors and the 6 point rollbar. I wont cut it any or put glass bumpers on it as I like the real steel chrome bumpers. But I only wanted to get in the 10's so I have no plans to lighten my car. Course I am a hot rodder and a gearhead so I will most likey look for small performance gains over the years. It will stay a street car that I race every now and then. Ron

Ok...I need help guys. I bought this car 6 months ago. I have had it to the track twice before winter set in.
Best ET is 11.876 and 112.75. 1.699 60 foot and 7.521 at 660 foot. I think from My combo that it should run at least in the 11:20's or 11:30's. ???

It leaves straight as a arrow, no excessive wheel spin. Best ET is shifting 1-2 at 6200 and 2-3 at 6400.Goes thru traps at 6000. Doesn't lay down anywhere. Engine build is maybe 2 years old and could have 200 runs on the build..the only thing I am thinking is that maybe the rings and/or valve seats are worn and.or valve springs weak..GOTTA BE SOMETHING....

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK...SHOULD THIS COMBO BE FASTER THAN 11.876.

440 CUBIC INCH, 3700 LBS

Here is the combo:
1) Probably 3700 lbs although it does have fiberglass front fenders, hood and both bumpers and no back seat with Recaro type bucket sets. 6 point cage.
2) 4.10 Detroit Locker with Super Stock Springs and Pinion snubber adj at the way up.
3) 12 gal fuel cell with big Mallory Pump and big Fram Filter. Filter is new.
4) 30x13.50 MT ET Drag Radials with 11.25 tread
5) Weld 15x10 Super Lites and 15x3's on front.
6) Reverse Griner Valve body with 4000 Converter (Ultimate Converters)
7) Hurst Quarter Stick Pistol Grip with Line Lock

Motor:
1) Holley 950 HP Race Carb with 50cc primary pump installed and 35 tube type squirters and 1" Moroso spacer, No air cleaner on at track. Fuel Pressure regulator at 5psi.
2) Mopar M-1 Single Plane Intake.
3) Hooker Super Competition Headers with no tail pipe exhaust system on at track
4) Iron Heads off 1973 MotorHome. Ported. 2.19 Intake and 1.88 Exhaust Valves. Flow Intake 267CFM and Exhaust 216CFM at .600. Crane Aluminum Gold Roller Tip Rocker Arms 1.5 Ratio.
5) Cam is custom ground (no name) .570 Intake and .569 Exhaust, 104.1 Intake C/L, 108.1 Lobe Separation, 265 Intake and Exhaust Duration Solid Lifter with Smith Bros Pushrods.
6) Reported to me that pistons are 10-1 and that is all I know because I have not had heads off.
7) 440 stock bore and Stroke.
8) MSD Billet Dist with 6AL box with 2 step limiter box attached.

TUNING:
Ignition Timing 37 Degrees Total. 19 Degrees in Distributor and 18 degrees intitial advance. Springs set to come in total timing of 37 degrees at 3000 RPM.
Carb 78 primary jets, 79 Secondary Jets. 35 Tube Type Squirters.
Valve Lash is at .023 Hot.
I RUN VP 110 LEADED RACE GAS.

I set the low end launch rev limiter at 2500RPM, put my foot on the footbrake and floor it and release the footbrake when it is time to launch. The low end rev limiter switch is on the footbrake.
Like I said. I shift at 6200 on 1-2 and 6300 on 2-3 for the best ET's and it goes thru the lights at 6000.
Best time is 11.876 but most of the other runs are 11.92 to 11.95. I have only made 15 passes in the car. Fasted 11.876 and slowest in 11.95......very consistant but I think it should be faster.
PLEASE WEIGH IN AND GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS

is this a street car or drag car? 3700 lbs is probably the reason for those times. I got my 68 roadrunner and it weighed 3120 without me. Now I got it down to just below 3000. but have yet to run it this year. I would think you would want to 100% lose any tire spin at launch also. I run just 9 lbs in my rears slicks.

Do a compression test. I'll bet it has no cylinder pressure do to a low compression ratio. Your shift rpm may be to high. I've found with a playback tach that a 727 1/2 shift takes approximately 600 rpm. That means you are probably at 6800 give or take. The 2/3 seems to take about 300 rpm. Every mild car like this we've lowered the shift rpm and gone quicker. Next where is the cam installed? My bet is after checking compression it will show that it would like to be in at 102 degrees or even earlier. Many cars with low compression and a Mopar .590 ( similar grind) respond to C/L as early as 99 degrees. I'm surprised at the trap rpm as well. 30" tire, 4.10, 113 mph should be less than 5500 rpm. Lenny's converters are usually very good. You may have a damaged converter.

It is a "Pro-Street" but I drive it very little on the street. I am beginning to think the rear tires are too tall (30") that might be reducing my 4.10 rear gear to an effective 3.90 or something. I have to buy new slicks very soon, I was thinking about going to 28" tall...and maybe putting a 4.56 third member in to replace the 4.10.

What do you guys think ?
