Post your 11 second combos

ron
I've been following you and your brothers cars for a long time hoping to see you at one of the tracks to say hello
very very nice 63

I hope to make it to Cecil in late Sept or some time in Oct. I plan to make a Saturday test & tune. I will try to remember to let you know as I would love to meet you and see that sweet 63 up close. Ron

I'm hoping that after the upcoming changes I'll be able to post my findings here. Tell me what you think of the combo:
70 Charger 4100 lbs with driver.
493, 10.7 compression. Iron block, Edelbrock RPM heads Unmodified. 261/271 @ .050 .558/.578 Lunati Solid, 850 Demon carb, Edelbrock RPM intake, 2" TTI headers, 2 1/2" exhaust & tailpipes. MP electronic ignition, Chrome box, MSD blaster 2 coil. 727 with 3000 stall, GV OD, 3.91 diff. I have access to slicks but may buy some Drag radials for racing.
Is this capable of breaking into the 11 second bracket?

Yes that should run easy 11's. Actually my combo is not all that much different. I use a solid flat tappet thats .584 and .592 lift with 264 & 270 @ .050. But I use 1.6 rockers for .624 and .632 lift. Indy EZ heads with light port work and 10.6 comp as it runs on 92 pump and has good quench. I also use TTI 2" headers and a full 3" exh with X-pipe. I run the Indy dual plane intake and a 850 DP. I also use the MP ign as I am running the orange box. Mine weighs 3700 lbs so you are carrying about 400 more lbs but your combo should still go easy 11's and maybe even lower 11's. Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes. Ron

That is what I am talking about. I remember driving to State Capital Dragway in Baton Rouge, LA with my dad in everyone of his mopars (66 "hemi" Sat, 67 RT, 63 Bel) with tool box and slicks in the trunk. All were 11 second 4-speed cars that were street driven daily. I am currently building my first mopar to commemorate my dads 66' Sat. Although it will not be a hemi it will be a 512 inch stroked 440.

Beautiful car, I'm shooting for similar build. How do you like a spool on the street?

Looking for 11's

IMG.jpgHey Guys, I respect your opinions and would like to get some advice on getting my car into the 11's. I have a 68 GTX with a 440 .030 zerodeck , cnc'd stealth heads, appx. 11.1 CR, old offenhauser 2x4 intake, 2- 500cfm eddys , 1-3/4" headman headers w/2-1/2 exhaust x-pipe and cutouts. Lunati hyd. roller 231/239 @ .050 535/550 lift, hughes 1.6 roller rockers, forged crank and pistons, h-beam rods, 7 quart pan with 1/2" pickup. Torque converter is stock w/ reverse manual valve body 727, all stock suspension ( ss springs in back) , 8-3/4 w/3.55 and locker rear. 275/60/15 BFG (bald) out back. The car has run a best of [email protected] with between 1.9 and 2.0 60ft. times. Over the winter I plan on slicks, adj. shocks front and back, adj. snubber, torque converter(suggestions) moving battery to the trunk, and 4.10's for the rear. I built the car originally to look and sound cool at cruise night, but now I want more speed for the track. I still want to drive on the street, but the track has now become more important to me. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks, Bob

the changes your planning should get you into the 11's pretty easily, as long as you have adequate fuel supply & good hot ignition & can get enough traction, the gear change & converter {3000-3800rpm stall, will still be streetable, with the 4.10:1 gears, give you a better 60ft time which equates to a better 1/4 mile ET} will help allot, slicks or drag radials are also a good idea, lighten the car when your at the track, take out everything that you don't need & go on a day with some cloud cover, that's not too hot will help some too... good luck

:iamwithstupid: mine is Dodge {he ran into a Dodge Pick-up & knocked himself out}, Biff {he falls allot now, also fell out of the back truck when he was a pup}, Buddy/Bud {just short for Budnicks}, Brown Dog {he's Chocolate, he loves that nickname}, Big Guy {I don't know why}, fat dog {he was fat}, good old dog {he's old}, spoiled rotten dog {cause he is}, sad thing is he'll come to just about any of them too, with the right tone of voice....

Thank you! Spool isn't too bad unless I get caught in the rain. The occasional car show in the grass is a bit rough too but over all no issues .

cool car, nice run dr. mopar

Wow, looking back to the beginning of the year, all I added to my combination was 4.10's, torque converter and shocks. Went from a 12.64 to 11.52. I know there's more in there to be had.

good showing Bobtile
congrats again on the mid 11's

Just goes to show that it's not all about horse power.
