Started a new thread so as not to highjack this one. (Media blast ?'s) thanx

Hey Matt,

great looking project...I can see all the work and fab going into it. I saw the jig you built for the project...that looks great too. problem is when cars like this get done...very very few people truly appreciate all the work and effot that goes into it. That's exactly WHY I am so passioniate about pitching my TV show BACKYARD WRENCHHEADS...Its about guys just like you, that never get the credit they deserve. Lots of great hidden talent in these garages. You truly are a "backyard wrenchHEAD" !!!

thanks again for checking for the glass for my RR. I have a guy coming up from Kentucky to look at it on Wednesday, so hopefully I will get is sold. I do have a lead on a brand new piece of glass, but its $340.

Talk to you laterhttp://www.backyardwrenchheads.TV

Thanks for the kind words. Good thing the main person I am building this car for is me!. Actually recognition is an important part of this hobby, I think and I am thankful for sites like this one, because I think it helps satisfy that small need. I have a close circle of friends , both on the internet and locally that recognize and support what I am doing and it helps to keep the motivation level up, very important.
Good luck with the sale of your car and $340 is WAY to much for a piece of door glass in my opinion. Keep your eyes open and I bet it wouldn't take long to find a complete door with the glass in it for around $150.
Stay in touch.

hey matt, how's the j-dog coming?I'm hoping to get started on something, but have to get a few things done and out of the way first.Looking forward to more pictures.

Hi man, I was just in MCG and I saw a wheel ad for B-bodies, b ut I don't know if you're into custom wheels but there is a Boyd Cottington wheel called the "Junkyard Dog"...thought you'd be interested

The "DOG" is currently still away getting media blasted, he should be done by Friday or Saturday this week. I stopped by the place to drop off a few more parts yesterday that I forgot to take originally and he hadn't started on it yet, but they were about to. I'll post some pics when I pick him up and get him over to the body shop, hopefully by the weekend.

426hemicharger, I'm not generally into custom wheels unless there old school, but I would like to see the ones your refering to. I just flipped through the current MCG, twice and didn't see them, what issue did you see them in?. I already have a set of all chrome Magnum 500s with red lines mounted, found them on Craigslist and couldn't pass them up, so for now that is what I'll be using. I was thinking some vintage Torque Thrusts before I bought the 500s.

Torque Thrust are cool too, I don't remember which issue but it is an older one. They are Legend Series. Here's a pic.

I would consider those rims, very kool.
Picking the "DOG" up from the blaster today and delivering him to his new home at the body shop where I will finish assembly and he will be put into paint. Loading up all the AMD parts this morning on the empty trailer and dropping them off at his new digs before going to get the car, will be posting pics, so stay tuned.
Also finally got my go-ahead for my trip to the island of Mustique and will be leaving for 3 weeks by Monday at the latest. Thankfully will have the internet so I can continue to get my Mopar fix!.

Great can wait to see the "Dog" done. AMD makes the best parts fits like a f**king glove! Can't wait to see more pics.

I'm at the very beginning of a very smilar '68 Charger project...

My floors are fine but the 1/4's, roof, a-pillars and rockers are cancered out. Dang vinyl tops!

How did you go about bracing the body before cutting? A little bit of "looks like it needs something here...?"

My '68 Charger restoration

The steel rack that it is bolted to was the main part of the bracing and also made a good point of reference accross its entire length while I swapped out the back half. When I swapped the cowl section I welded in a bunch of steel falsework to hold the roof in place until the new section was welded in.
Picked the "DOG" up from the media blaster today and delivered it to the body shop where I will finish assembling it and it will be painted.
It is already in a paint booth for a coat of DP-90. More to come.

Ok, now you're forcing me to do my GTX! Two cars; similar condition, similar dissassembly!

You better get busy then Donny!. Here is the media used, he said it was a premix of glass and plastic and had a name for it that I don't remember.

Still a little rust at the bottom of the pits, see the close-up of the media. So we are going to use a rust converter where neccessary before DP-90, but over all I am pleased with the job that Georges Collision on 9 mile in Eastpoint did on the "DOG" and he was the cheapest around.

That looks almost identical to the stuff I use! I throw some walnut shell in the mix too, but, that stuff lasts forever and forever and forever, but, it's dirty! Once it's in, it's HARD to get out! Cleans the same though. Your car looks really good. The person who did it took some pride in their work; it's obvious. Looks like some of the stuff I turn out.

The pic of the media you displayed, the rust that remains could have been removed, I use some proprietary stuff called Power Blast, it's an Alum Oxide mix that is very fine, it would get into the areas that the plastic didn't. Only problem with my mixing Power Blast is it breaks the plastic down very fast; often too $$ to run that mix unless it's very rusty, then, I run the Walnut, but, inevitably it all mixes in at the end.

Thanks for your opinion Donny, I probably would have asked if you didn't say something, I am glad to know you think a nice job was done on it.
