Project Rat Rod V code 70 Charger R/T is about to begin.

Yesterday after two full weeks getting shipped halfway across the country and back by the USPS,the pilot bearing that Jim (aka Moparwacko) mailed to me arrived. I went out to check it in the crankshaft,and although I can barely get my hand in there with the bearing,because the engine is on a stand,the bearing appears to be a few thousandths too big to install it as is. I measured the bearing,and its .910 or so. As stated in the thread on the bearing,by another member the crankshaft hole measures .885,so I may have to have it turned down a couple thousandths to work. I am going to have to take the engine off the stand and measure the hole to get an exact measurement. Thanks again for your help Jim.

Ok, Pete. I retract my vote. Keep the woodgrain wheel. It looks so right in a '70 Charger.

I am leaning that way. I need to get the correct 1970 horn cap adapter,it has a 68/69 one on there now.

I was cleaning up the back section of the garage, and I found some goodies for the car back there. First I found the NOS burnt orange headliner that came with the car when I got it, then I found a new set of clutch, brake, and emergency brake pedal pads.

I also found my new Mopar Performance orange box. It is brand new, it came with my Hemi crate engine. I hope that it's one of the good ones. I have heard that some of the later orange boxes were junk. I also found a pair of burnt orange kick panels for a Charger.

A guy on DC.com sent me a message asking if the car was still for sale. I told him,when the other buyer backed out on the day he was supposed to bring me the money,I had made up my mind,that I was going to put the car together and drive it,so that is what I am going to do!

If your noticing that there is not too much happening on the car lately,aside from the cold weather,I had to stop working on this car and the Road Runner convertible because the garage has gotten overwhelmingly out of control! The last three weekends I took three truckloads of crap out of there,and there is probably three more truckloads more to go. I have been especially been concentrating on cardboard,plastic,wood and wood scraps,chemicals,and spray cans. Anything combustible needs to go. Tonight I spent a few hours rounding up all the tools and wiped them down,and put them back in the tool boxes. After this gets done,I have tons of car parts everywhere that need to be put away. When you have eleven cars in a 34x60 building with a full loft,and you cannot walk around in the garage or the loft,you have to stop what you are doing and make it a workable shop again. I hope to be back on the cars soon!

It's a real sickness! Today I dug out a pair of gas tank straps with J bolts. I found about a dozen of them before I found a usable pair. Most were bent up or rusted. I am going to clean them up and paint them tomorrow!

Your plight is shared by many.
I have to do periodic cleanup work to maintain sanity. I hate excessive clutter so when stuff gets out of order, I halt progress and go about putting everything away, throwing out whatever packaging or scraps I don't need, etc.
11 cars ???
I have a 1700 sq ft shop and three cars is enough for me...any more than that and I'm too cramped to do much.

It seems no matter how big my garage is I always buy more than can fit in it. When I built my 2 car garage at my old house, I had 8 cars and more parts than I could fit in the loft. Now I built my garage to fit all eight cars that I had in there comfortably and a loft three times the size of the old garage, and now I have 23 cars and more parts than will fit in the building. I did sell off eight of the worst project cars that I had about 3 years ago, but then I bought 5 others since. I will never learn, but with retirement nearing I may have to be realistic about how many of these I can build and cut atleast half of them loose. I had this car sold, and that was supposed to be the start of me getting serious about downsizing my fleet, but the pandemic caused the buyer to back out, and I have since purchased the Road Runner convertible project, so I am still going in the wrong direction!
