Project Rat Rod V code 70 Charger R/T is about to begin.

Thanks Steve,I will let you know if he cannot get it.I already paid for it so I hope that he can get it! I was hoping to get out to the garage and get some work done this weekend,but the rear brakes started grinding on the wifes 96 INDY RAM,and what should have been a two hour brake job turned into an 8 hour ordeal! First one of the locking lugs stripped when I tried to remove it,and 3 hours later with a hammer,punches,chisels and a drill with cobalt bits,I got the lug off which is recessed in the factory mag wheels. Then it took another two hours to get the drums off which were oxidized to the center hub. Then I had to take the drums to be cut,and 8 hours later,the whole day yesterday,the brakes were done. The sad part was that they were not even worn out,they came unbonded from the shoes,and the shoes scored up the drums! I put rivited shoes on it,the bonded shoes were done by the previous owner,who cheaped out! Today is the wife's day off,and I got called into work this morning,so the weekend is shot! Maybe next weekend!

The whole Road Kill/Rat Muscle bug has caught on with me. Rather than let this one sit, I am putting it together also and going to drive it as is. Not all of them need to be 100K+ restorations.
Just need a buddy with a loft with stock Kern Dog. Got a buddy down the road some time's I need a part or bolt's and nut's and he say's yep got it in stock. Just kidding. With ya.

Yes with all those dash cores. I guess he has been picking for a while. I only have the one runner and wish I had extra part's. With out any junk yard's left to search through now day like in the past we are just out of luck. Have to pay dearly to some one that has these old part's. Just ask me. I was missing a lot off the car I got. Had to buy form the smart salvage yard's that stocked up on Mopar's.
There will be at least 2 ratty ‘70 RR’s out running around. I’m in process of getting mine on the road. Exterior will remain untouched except for new windshield and new park/reverse lenses.
Those guys on Roadkill,took a 68 Barracuda fastback,that burned in the California wildfires last year,and made it run and drive the other night! Right now I got more than twenty Mopar project cars,there's no way I can restore all of them in the time I have left. At some point I know That I am going to have to cut atleast half of them loose. I think the only way I am going to get to enjoy most of them is to go Roadkill style,and get them mechanically sound and drive them. This build is what I would consider a level above what Roadkill does,I want the interior nice,and the mechanicals fresh. If there is rust and holes,they will be fixed,but I am not going to fuss with the body and paint at this point. The drive train is for another car,so when that car gets the body and paint done,I plan to pull the engine and trans out of this car for that one,hopefully in between I can rebuild the matching numbers engine,repaint the engine bay and drop it in,in the mean time I will drive it and break in the drive train for the other car. I bought my first Charger 41 years ago,you can acquire a lot of junk in 41 years! I'm looking forward to seeing those two 70 Road Runners become drivers too,I am trying to save that 70 Road Runner convertible project that I bought last summer too.

Mine needs a new windshield also. I am actually having more fun with this one because I am letting my youngest son (19) do the work. Hope to get my oldest over to help also.
I'm looking forward to having a few cars I can drive without worrying if they get a chip or a scratch. I hate cringing when ever anyone walks by it. I like being able to lean on them,or rest a beer on the hood! I haven't updated my 70 Road Runner convertible project car thread in a while mostly because it has been to cold to do anymore work on it. I needed a little break from it in December when I stopped working on it,and I was recovering financially from buying it,but I am getting caught up, and I am going to try to focus on the 70 Charger R/T in this thread first, then the Road Runner convertible project next,and if I get down time on them, then I will continue putting the 71 Charger R/T roller back together. So I got plenty to do this coming season.

Today I scored two 440 engines! A 70 F 440 HP2 engine,rebuilt,and a 72 440 machined block with reconditioned rods! A good day in the Mopar world!
Even though the weather has somewhat broken here,even though it's only 34 degrees here today, it's nearing time to start putting the car together and making it run and drive again for the first time in about three decades! After seeing Greg,aka Kern Dog put his 70 Charger together and make it a turn key car,it's time to get back to work on the car and make it run too. I hope to make some progress on it this weekend, but Sunday is Easter so Sunday is out, but maybe I can throw a few hours at it on Saturday.

I had hoped to get Jigsaw running within ONE year of ownership. That date was September 5th 2020. I missed the mark.
One of the driving forces behind my goal was that IF I get the opportunity to sell this place and move EAST, I want the cars here to be easy to transport. NON running cars are harder to load onto trailers!

My friend ordered the flywheel on Sunday,It's finally back in stock,once I get that assembly will begin!

I bought my first car 39 years ago and my first Charger 21 years ago. I wasn't in the market to buy up any Charger parts cars in my first half of car ownership. In the past 20 years, just about any Charger I've seen out here has been deemed to be a project, not a car to be parted out and scrapped.
Ours never rusted as bad as Northern and Eastern cars. Add in AMD and what may have been a lost cause was now a possible show car.
My flywheel will be in hand today! My friend and I spent the weekend cleaning the garage to prepare for the engine installation in the V code Charger R/T! Soon the car will have a running driveline in it for the first time in decades!
