Restomod charger pics

Yeah I would've like to have 18x10's which is what I was originally looking for, the 18x9.5's will fill out the wheel wells perfect with the 1/2" spacers, but I would've rather taken up that 1/2"+ with more wheel and tire haha

That tailstripe is cool, great that you're doing these things to really make your car personal to you.

Here's what I drew up for a scoop, basically like I was saying a 6 pack scoop but with the opening having that forward angle and pointed just slightly. Also put a split in the opening like the 6 pack to sort of mimic the split in the grille, and a slight slope down all the way around the base where it meets the hood. I was in a hurry and just sketched this stuff out but the "456 stroker" decal down the side was supposed to be the same font as the "440 magnum" hood emblem on a '70 challenger. Hope this helps

Thanks hunt, appreciate the encouragement. By the "if you must" I take it your not digging it, haha. I know what your thinking "why, when they have such a beautiful hood already" and your exactly right, I chickened out on it for that reason (loved the hood) but the guy who media blasted the underside completely destroyed it "I was literally sick to my stomach when I brought it home and had to have a few drinks to calm down". I always wanted a shaker and the hood wasn't salvageable (imagine every opening on the bottom, now imagine all of those spots warped severally on the top" as you can imagine very little original metal is left. I do believe that is the scoop I'm going with and won't be quite that pointy.

I hear where you are coming from. I guess I'm just not used to seeing scoops on Chargers. I will say that the last pic Speedy posted of the black car looks pretty cool.

Yeah it's a bummer his hood wasn't useable but if I had to put a scoop on one I'd go with that. The black '68 is from those Blade movies, looks pretty good and I bet it'd look better as a shaker since it'd be a couple inches lower

Sweet drawing, I really like that. I was dead set on the mach scoop (modified to not look like one) so now I'm in a little fix with the hole already being there. The good news is that I cut the hole with the intensions of making my own scoop meaning it was made the way I wanted it and not just for the mach scoop. Having said that I'll look at it tonight and maybe draw it to scale so I can see what I have to work with. If I end up doing more surgery on the hood I'll have to invite Captain Morgon over for support (man was that hood a #$&^% to weld and not warp). As far as rim width goes, it seems that 9.5 is the standard for most companies unless they are customs (you either pay less and settle for less or get out the check book).

the second one with the shaker doesn't look horrible, I think I would get to like it, IMHFO the 68-70 Charger hoods shape, with the indented scoops & indicators {looks really good already}, they don't seem to lend themselves too well, to be modified, with out looking a little weird, I've seen a few Chargers with the RO style 67 S/S hood scoops like on Landy's 69 Charger RT Hemi Car, it looked pretty damn good, he had a Six Pack style hood too...

Here's a bad *** Black 69 Charger, Not sure who's it is, but has a Six Pack Scoop & looks good too !!

If I can throw in my 2cents. To me any hood scoop doesn't look right on a Charger. They do look good with a smoothed out hood as seen in the above pictures. I really like speeds scoop with one exception. The center support needs to have the same ridges as the grill then smooth out the hood.

I think a memory refresher is in order haha, as you can see the hood is already smoothed and yeah Speadies drawing looks pretty sweet. The problem is getting it to work with what I got "this is what happens when you decide to change your mind":BangHead:DSCN6505.jpg Page one has more pics.

Hey whacha know! Your hood is already smoothed. Glad you took my advice. LOL I still like the one in the pic you just posted.

The Lokar kit leaves a little to be desired in the fitment department, Look closely at the pic of they're instructions you'll see the tranny coolant line directly behind the cable "uh oh, I kinda need that coolant line". If you go over it your against the floor and under (what I did) reguires tweaking the bracket, other than that it's a pretty sweet setup.

The issue with the fuel gauge was just the ground, my car is spayed with bed liner and the fuel line is mounted with rubber coated stainless clamps making it a piss poor ground. After a little head scratching I just made a copper clamp for the 3/8" pipe coming out of the sending unit (where the standard strap would be) and fastened it to a ground "problem solved". I don't know what got into me tonight, I didn't touch the Charger instead I decided to finish the Cruze. I was supposed to be getting it into the shop for them to pull the upper rail down but found a way to do it myself so other than touching up the hood and a little buffing IT'S DONE, BYE BYE. What a pain in the @$$, with all of the pieces, headlights, fenders, hood, bumper etc being such tight fits it doesn't leave much room for error but it went together pretty well. Many hours of porta powering, come alonging, beating and beating and beating here it is. I'm pretty happy, we tried to get a used one but couldn't find one under $16,000 "Ridiculous" (they're only $19,000 brand new) so we have a Cruze with 3,400 miles on it for 8,000. I threw in a pic of my dog "Sayde" seing how she never gets in them and Budnik seems to love dogs "she's a sweat heart".DSCN8147.jpgDSCN8368.jpgDSCN8369.jpgDSCN8365.jpg

Thanks CDR. Sorry no video yet, I actually made one today only to find it didn't record "I'll figure it out".

Can someone tell me where these bumpers go, I have the hood, doors and trunk lid bumpers in but can't figure out where these go.DSCN8393.jpg

Well back to the body work "yey", evidently the AMD Quarters have a sharper bend at the quarter extension area meaning the extensions needed a little work. I built the corners up with All Metal, filed the rest to get a good fit and then filled the dent in one. I also blocked out my front valence "again", my boy decided to help one day and took 40 grit to it. Also finished the last few tweaks to the bumpers, I'll be dropping them off for blasting tomorrow and then finishing them "boy I'm glad I decided to paint them". This inner fender is junk, it came from ABS and took a great deal of BFH work to get to fit then allot of body work to make look respectable only to find out now that the lip is so high that you can't install the hood bumper. Should have checked it but never thought it would be this far off.DSCN8396.jpg

Be glad our grills are plastic, I'm fixing a grill for 1970 Torino that is pot metal "not allot of options". All of the center brackets are broke "missing" and the lower part is cracked in half. The vertical pieces of aluminum on the inside of the grill are actually needed for bolting it in. I'm hoping the reinforcement plate on the bottom will appear to be just a thicker portion when done "not many ways to go about it" and I wanted to hide the crack somehow. Another down payment on the upohlstrey.DSCN8399.jpgDSCN8400.jpg

Excellent work on the extensions. Bummer on the inner fender. Yeah, not a lot of options on the pot metal unless you can use JB Weld.

that totally sucks, about that inner fender panel... trim the hood bumper on the bottom side to fit, if need be... sorry that's probably the obvious fix...

Thanks BigBlock, "I think I got it now" haha. I posted it elsewhere and was told they are for the glove box and center console lid, that only accounts for a few. I wonder if it's one of those kits that covers multiple applications "I'll find out when it rattles".

That was my first thought but it would likely result in cutting it in half seeing how it's hollow. I'll figure something out, I'll trim the metal and touch it up if I have to.

Thank you hunt2elk, I think I may have A.D.D or just short term memory loss but remembered your "to do list board" and bought me one. I can't believe what I'm getting done now, I will usually sit on my breaks at work and think of all the things I want to get done but I usually forget by the weekend. Last weekend I had a huge list with the most important things highlighted and "what do you know" I got all but one done. Unfortunetly it's body work again, I thought I had a big enough break "nope" still sick of it. I really wanted to be painting it by this weekend but there's a decent amount of things still to do so I might try and convince my wife to grant me extended garage privileges LOL. A few bummers popped up, I wet sanded the flag on the hood and noticed a few spots that looked like they got some oil, clear or something else on them (the hood is dull from wet sanding but still has a couple shiny spots that look like something splashed on it), I tried scrubbing them with paint prep (final wash, whatever you call it) and a little more sanding "won't go away". If I can get the little issues straightened out before Friday I might have a chance, wet sand it all Sat morning, prep the booth and add lighting Sat night and start painting Sunday morning "wishful thinking" but I'll give it a shot. If I have to rush it it will just have to wait another week "nothing good ever comes from rushing especially when it comes to painting".

on the back of the front fenders at the top for the hood to set on.right next to the studs

Got those two on and all the other hood bumpers. I can't think of any others, 2 on the trunk, 4 on doors and 8 on the hood, that's what I have so far. What's that weird T shaped one for? Hate basket cases but then again that's the only way I can afford one LOL. Thanks

I'm new to the forum, and this is the first thread I've read! Great build! and your craftsmanship on the unique/custom touches is very good!

Thanks chargin, if this is your first read you'll be plenty surprised by others, speadfreak, superfreak, propwash, cdr, hunt2elk, dony, bigblock61, etc. Lots of really good work going on hear at FBBO. Get a thread going on yours, I just looked at your pics "sweet 68" looks pretty mean and I like the color and stance.
