Devin,

Looks like you are all almost all set to go with the tranny! Also, nice job with the room for your daughter - now I just want to see YOU do a backwards handstand like she did!! (smile)

Do you want me to get the tranny installed??????????

nice job on the kids room, and the trunk looks awesome. the orange goddess will be ready for spring time.

Here's the progress report, Viper T56 fitted. Next will be re connecting the cross member, in the pics you can see my plan. In order to get it to clear the rear shifter location that I'll be using it will be tipped forward a bit. I'll make 2 of the brackets, weld one on each side of the inside of the cross member and then box them in.

I'm very happy with how little has been chopped out on the actual floor (almost all of the cutting was done on the hump).

For anybody who might have questions about the install I've got a very detailed thread started in the engine, trans and driveline area that really shows allot more that's called "Viper T56 install".

Thanks USA, Can't wait for Spring already!

oh baby that looks sexy. looking good. do you know by chance what the differences are from your viper trans to my tr6060. they look like there the same except for the viper logo on the side of yours.

As far as I know they are physically about the same (or close to it) but different internally. Looking them up the Viper trans has a higher hp rating, different input shaft, different gearing and seeing how it has a Viper cast into it I'd think they have a designated casting so I imagine some of the ears on the tranny might be Viper specific as well. They both pull up as T56s and it definitely has Tremec cast right into it as well so I'm saying they're pretty close.

Install's looking good Dev! That's a heck of a lot of transmission! Makes an 833 look like tinker toys.[/QUOTE

Thanks Prop. You got that right, this thing is a pig.

Got the cross member plates burned out so looks like Friday night will be go time on finishing the cross member. After that's done I'm hoping to build a new tranny mount so I can get my jack out from under it and move on to the hump. I also have to decide whether or not to swap out cams as well (finances might decide that one for me), I went pretty mellow and have found myself wanting more so we'll see. Wookie suggested that I get a custom ground cam and hooked me up with Nick at Compuflow, here's his Email. Basically allot more lift than I'm running now but keeping the duration down so it will be happy cruising at 1,800 rpm. :thinker:

Hi Devin ,
I checked some lobe profiles , I would suggest a 23-000- 5 custom solid cam from comp cams .
lift is approx. int. 540 / ex.560 duration @ 50 will be about 238 / 246 108 cl installed at 105 .

"Cruising" 1800 rpm, Clearing throat hear thinking about more strenuous vibrations.. lol, Im sure Dev, you'll have it top of the line! Good wishs on your cam selection!!!

Time to update my thread since I've been over in the Trans and driveline section lately. The cross member is done, restored to better than factory strength and the tranny mount done as well.

First is a pic of the 2 plates all burned out, ground smooth and test fitted (remember I had to lean them forward to clear the shifter location).

Now is 3 pics of the plates fully boxed in and ready for install.

Now all welded in.

Now for the tranny mount, I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this right off of the bat. I wanted to really tuck it up in there and keep the install really neat (still need to drill 2 more bolt holes and install sleeves in the frame).

Started off with the original tranny mount and some bars my brother had bent to make Z bars out of (Shhhhhhhhh don't tell him).

After welding it all up and cutting the center out it's all done except drilling the extra bolt holes.

Here's the final product (minus 2 holes), I'm pretty stoked with the results.

I've got the sheet metal sitting in the garage and am chomping at the bit to get into the garage tomorrow night to get started on bending up a new trans hump.

You already know what I think but I'm saying it anyways! Looks flawless!

I wish I could call anything flawless but I'm sure the maiden voyage with the new tranny will point something out pretty quickly (hopefully just the biggest **** eat'n grin you ever saw).

Thinking about a new emblem for the Charger haha, problem is where would I put it? Maybe the hood scoop? any ideas?

Actually thinking a graphic like the old six packs had for the hood scoop that has 456 in big numbers and six speed in small letters under it? I like that better.

awesome!! nice & clean lookin xmember, the one i built looks like it was built for a tank.

Keep customautoemblem.net in mind the guy that did Props and My callouts! they do nice work especially if you have an idea you could do up on CAD.

Hey Dev, I sure hope you get that grin your hoping for! I do believe you earned it!!!

Damn! That tranny isn't going anywhere! She's put together very well.

Thanks Prop, It might be overdone a bit but I feel good about it.

I sure hope so but there's usually a few bugs to work, at least it's a standard with fewer things to worry about.

Sorry I kinda agree but hey!, it's your hot rod !

I think you missed a big part of the thread, I couldn't bring myself to use it haha. The Ford scoop never got mounted on the car and is still collecting dust, instead the scoop that is on the car is a 100% made from scratch shaker scoop that resembles a Cuda grill (a little).
