Woke up early this mornin to a commotion on the front porch. Three of our neighbor's dogs they just let roam free came up on the porch and grabbed one of our cats and killed him before we were able to get them off. One of them even bit my wife as she was trying to get them off. I swear I wish people didn't think they had the right to let their dogs just roam free. That cat was 15 years old and almost blind. He never left the porch except to do his business. He never hurt anybody. We're gonna miss you , Rickie.

I'm not much of a cat person, but this SUCKS big time. I'd say it was about time for a little "lead poisoning" for a couple dogs. Sorry for your loss and I hope you get some satisfaction.

sorry for your loss rusty.losing a long time pet is like loosing a member of your family.hope your luck turns around soon.if your wife was bitten, and an animal was killed, call animal control and they will remove those dogs from the irresponsible owner.

I'm not a cat person either, but pets are family. Sorryto hear this. Maybe it's time for some legal or other action.

sorry for you loss.bad enough to lose a long time pet,but in this way is hard.i agree with others that the people who own the dogs should have them removed and be held responsible.

I'm so sorry to hear about this, I have three cats and I can tell you that if this happened to me there would be a f**king **** storm. My pets are my family and they're all well behaved animals. You really can't blame the dogs either, it's what they do but there's no excuse for irresponsible pet owners.

God speed Rickie

Rusty;my SINCERE condolences. The lady and I have six cats;all rescues and strays. Love dogs as well, but would have put a bullet into one of those dogs in a freaking second. You're one of the good guys;find another to save. Won't replace your beloved Rickie, but you'll know in your heart that you did the right thing.

Well.....we actually have at least two more on the way. We have a couple of adolescents and the male got to the female before we could get either fixed.

As to any repercussions.......the county came out and gave the guy a ticket. My wife gets bit and our cat gets killed and he gets a ticket. Somehow it's not fair.

I cant even imagine... I hope yall are doing okay after that... Make sure your wife has a doctor look at that bite and that dog tested. If they let them roam free, they probably dont do shots. And anytime more than one dog is roaming, it will attack anything. Dont call animal control, call the local authorities. I had a cat for 15 years that would sit on my chest under the car while i worked on it. They can make the best pets.

Maybe you should leave a little bowl of antifreeze sitting out where just those dogs might happen along.

Take them to court !!

Very very sory for your loss and I hope the wife is ok.

Irresponsible dog ownership is a big problem. Not sure what your laws are but I would think there is more to be done. I would have killed one or two of them if it were me. Samurai sword on hand for just such a purpose. Cant use a gun in urban areas so the next best lethal weapon is a long sword. You dont want to break into my house or yard.

Our cat is 19 yrs old ( she's stone deaf)..My wife would be devastated and I would have to exact revenge..

Did the dog bite break the skin? IF so get a lawyer.

I hate to hear about irresponsible pet owners. Sorry to hear about your cat and wife. I hope you can do something about this,a ticket isn't enough.

If they are on your property. Killing your anamals. Kill them

I am not a litigious person. IMHO, taking them to court will be a waste of time. We've called the county sheriff's deptartment and animal control many times and nothing has been done until now and all they did was write a ticket. I'm not gonna waste taxpayers money tying up a stupid dog case in court. That's not who I am. Now.......my wife is NOT havin a good day. She's a heart patient and is on about 14 meds twice a day since her heart attack in September of 2011. She's already taken one nitro pill for chest pain. She's better, but if something happens to HER, rest assured, I'll grab the dirtiest attorney I can find.

We have some cats, they come and go.Get over it and get another.Sorry to be harsh but thats life.
