Sad day for us....

Rusty, so sorry to hear of your loss. We are a cat family and I could not imagine loosing a kitty to someone else's neglect. i hope the Mrs. is OK and those dogs at least have their rabies shot so your wife does not have to endure that treatment.

Sorry to hear, looks like you got replacements already. I'm one of those that lets my dog run free but fortunetly in my neiborhood (out in the country) everyone has dogs and everyone loves my Rot.

Thanks yall. All of this has actually made me feel better. And the new kittens certainly helped to take some of the hurt away. But still, we lost a dear friend. We caint forget that. He didn't deserve to go out like that. He was dragged off the porch of HIS home and brutally killed. He did die in my wife's arms, so we think he did know he was loved till the end. And as tough as it is to realize, we know the dogs are not at fault. The owners dont have a fence, pen, chains or even runners. They simply don't care about the law. Glad to see there are so many animal lovers here. I know not everyone likes cats and those of you who don't have even said something in support. Thanks.

It's going to take a while.

It's going to take a while.

Probably a long while. We've never lost one so violently. We've had them get sick, die from old age and just disappear. Never even had one get hit that we knew of. All I can say is, if you have animals and love them, spend some time with them today because you never know.

I'm sorry for your loss, Rusty. If anything happened to my pet or my wife on my property that was due to a neighbors irresponsible nature, I would flip out. Losing a member of your family must be really rough. I wish you and the Mrs. the best, and applaud you for keeping your cool. I think I would get my Glock out and shoot those dogs dead if this had happened on my property.

Don't think I didn't want to. My rifle is always hanging on the wall ready to go, because we live in the country on several acres of woods. I didn't grab it, because I was VERY angry and hurt at the time. I might would have gone further than the dogs.

Pet owners here also, sorry to hear about you losing your pet in that way and hope your wife has a speedy recovery

I got bit in the *** once while taking a walk by dogs who weren't contained. The first thing I did was go to the emergency room. The second was to look for a lawyer, who did get me a settlement out of court.

We probably could get a settlement.....and Lord knows since my wife just lost her job, we could use it. But it's not who we are. She wasn't hurt badly and is going to be fine. We lost a friend, but my wife could have been hurt much worse. We've already had enough pain from this. Litigating will just be more pain for everyone involved. Ain't gonna do it.

Well, you're one of the few who wouldn't lawyer up. I salute you for not going that route, this whole country is busy suing each other. I gotta say, karma in this case will hit your neighbors very hard soon enough.

I gotcha. Anyways, sorry about your cat. To live that long and go that way...

Rusty,

I'm truly sorry about your cat. As you said, pets become members of the family. As I type this, I have my &^%$! cat sitting on my lap blocking the keyboard.

I'll give him a pet or two in your cat's honor...

Sorry to hear it, Rusty. We have 2 cats, so I can relate. Same as hsorman - one of ours is sitting on my legs as I type.

my X wife wrote this to me today......(it was my dog, we had 2 dogs (retrievers) I got one she got the other in the divorce ,,,,we had to put one down today)
I am in a lot of pain. I took him to the arches, he had fries, 2 burger patties and ice cream. We went to the Yacht Club I got in the back seat with him and hugged him, talked about all we did together, from the time you and I brought home. Walking into the vet he took a huge poop and pee. Waiting for dr to come in I layed on the floor talking to him, I didn't want to show that I was upset and scare him. I wailed while they were putting him down. Everyone was crying.

His urn will have a print of his paw and his Name engraved.

Thank you again for agreeing to bring him home.

Signed my X
