Sad day for us....

Sorry, Sonny. Having to put a pet down is a terrible experience to go through.

Damn I hate these threads. They always dig up painful memories. Sorry for your losses Robb and Sonny. I just got in from Midland. It was 480 miles in 9 hours with my two little dogs and my daughter. They done good. When I stopped at Mickey D,s I bought them a burger too. Now i,m glad I did. Gotta enjoy them while I can. Thanks for the reminder.

sorry for your loss rusty and i hope the wife re-coupes with no problems. i grew up on a farm on a busy road so losing pets was part of growing up. some were harder to take than others. i had to put down a pet of 21 years a couple of weeks ago. she was my late wifes pet and i inherited her. she was a 33 year old donkey. i knew the day was coming but figured the vet would do the job. she went down it the barn on a sunday and couldn't get the vet. i had to do it for humane reasons if nothing else. its still on my mind when i go to the barn. the donkey's were her pets but after 21 yrs they were ours.
if nothing else i would be putting the owners on alert. if you don't fix the situation i will, permanently. i had to do it about 10 yrs ago with someone new to the neighbor hood who let his sheppard roam. always chasing the cattle. he fixed it.
good luck buddy and to your wife also. rick

p.s. similar thing going on around here right now. in the last month there has been a pair of sheppard's roaming real close around here. no cattle anymore and the donkeys are more than capable of fending for themselves but if my 6 yr old grandaughter was here, who knows. just found where they live and a visit will happen before the weekend. city folk i presume.

my X wife wrote this to me today......(it was my dog, we had 2 dogs (retrievers) I got one she got the other in the divorce ,,,,we had to put one down today)
I am in a lot of pain. I took him to the arches, he had fries, 2 burger patties and ice cream. We went to the Yacht Club I got in the back seat with him and hugged him, talked about all we did together, from the time you and I brought home. Walking into the vet he took a huge poop and pee. Waiting for dr to come in I layed on the floor talking to him, I didn't want to show that I was upset and scare him. I wailed while they were putting him down. Everyone was crying.

His urn will have a print of his paw and his Name engraved.

Thank you again for agreeing to bring him home.

Signed my X
