For the past couple of days i had been smelling some gas around my charger, figured it was some left over from the tank repair or whatnot and i spilled a little when i put the fuel in my daily driver. Came home from work today to find the cover off the car, and smelling of gas still, poped the hood and found my fuel filter taken apart and put together wrong, it wasint even screwed in. I dont know if they got any fuel as i only had 2 gallons in the tank, but what the hell man. I guess the damn kids have never seen a rear fuel neck cause they didint even try to syphon from it. They broke into the hood to get nothing. I think im gonna go put some straight ethanol in a gas can and hook it up, and the first honda that blows a head gasket will be my theif.

:eusa_think: i have cameras all around ,found someone that shouldn't been around and confronted them ,don't seem to have any problems any more , it's amazing how a riot gun does .

My gas cans kept walking away so I took a 5 gal. with a little gas in it, just enough to make it smell like fuel filled it up with water and left it in my driveway. Two days later it was gone so I took a drive and found the little @#$% a few streets down with "car trouble" I played the concerned citizen and told him there might be a bad fuse in the trunk. He pops it and sure enough there is my now empty can. I didn't tell him what I had done. I will always help people on the side of the road but not a thief. Another good one is to bury 5 gal. buckets with the tops flush with the ground. Fill them with water and top off with tanbark. The bark floats and it sure slows down a thief good when they are running away but if they break a leg you might have to bury them so you dont get sued.

Dang, where to you guys live anyways??! Yeah, I'll admit that I'm always armed but the only time anything around here gets taken, it's because it was left unlocked or out in the open. And I don't know about the 5 gallon buckets....I'd probably would be the one to forget where they are and step into one myself lol

Man, filling your can with water is genius. My wife laughed her *** off, well, she laughed anyway. Haha

I'm cofused, what should I bury? Thief or bucket?

I would have done something to the little F&%$#@N thief, at least turned him in to the police at a minimum & if I caught him in the act of stealing from me, it would have been, much much worse I'm sure...

the water in the can is a GREAT idea. little $hit$.. fuel theft is always a prob. on the farm... gotta keep everything locked up and well lit.

You guys are priceless! Im accually setting up a camera system here in a couple of weeks. Its not so much a bad part of town as it is kids thinking they can get away with everything now-a-days. And the sad part is, I have a spot on my fuel line just after the tank made so i can quick disconnect and syphon the fuel out myself if I need to, in fact I had just done it a couple days before they got to it, thats why there was only 2 gallons in it. Now I kinda want to go leaving fuel gans with water lying around.

people dont understand reasoning....THEY UNDERSTAND GUNS AND FEAR! so dont reason with a known thief.....show them your gun,. youll be surprised how quickly you have their undivided attention !:headbang:

unfortunately, you're right D.

Get yourself a game cam from a sporting goods store like Dicks. They are cheap, work on batteries, work at night and you can move them around when you want.

Although I have to admit, putting water in a gas can much more fun.

Trip lines tied to wind chimes work pretty well and they usually make even more noise when they try to quiet the chimes lol but there's usually so much junk around my place that they end up hurting themselves trying to walk around in the dark. Entry ways are lit but the junk isn't :D

Budnicks I don't know how it is up in your neck of the woods in Sonora CA, but down here in the Valley we put our rides in Garages for safe keeping. Leaving it out...now if you don't have one I understand...is just an invite these days for a Thief to hit. And they do regardless of where one lives. And if Vandalism should occur, then most Insurance won't cover a Collector Car as most require them to be garaged and secure. Just sayin' is all my friend...:jerk:

a friend that is a cop was shopping at the mall with his wife while she went into the store he was sitting in his car watched a group pull up in a van and started to syphon gas out of a car ,he called it in and they caught them with 55 gal drums in it filled with gas ,busted them ,some balls

No cr8crshr my beloved RR & parts are always locked/stored in a garage or shed, so is my Dakota 4x4 & that also has an alarm... the only thing left outside is the RV, it's always locked up & the old Boat, kind of wish the boat was gone anyway...LOL..., behind the fence at the back of the property, near my bedroom, the Dually F-350 4x4 {I let Pop's drive} has an alarm, is left under the other car port, just outside our office window... I'm not all that trusting, even up here, kind of in the sticks, it's pretty safe with 2 Sheriff's, a Ca. Hwy Patrol & a Game Warden, in my immediate area... But even when I lived in the upscale Rancho Murieta Ca. {in the valley, east of Sacramento}, a nice private gated golf community, I still didn't trust people enough to leave my stuff outside, mostly because of the youth/teenagers running amok, more than the adults... But it doesn't matter where you live, there are people that will steal from you, if given the opertunity... If I did still lived anywhere near the big city masses, with all the thief's, tweekers, slackers & scumbags, taking advantage of the good hard working people, I wouldn't trust leaving anything outside, if I could avoid it... I'm always thinking security & it has served me well, for a very long time now...

Locks just help keep them honest, If someone wants in, locks don't stop too much, but it's my guns/security that helps makes sure they will remain safe...
