Well i know you have done the basics, coolant check the water pump the flow and checked to make sure the gauge was correct. If you have a straight fan say 7 blades and find a electric one that engages at say 195 temp with a 180 t stat then see what it is doing. Read about the cfms that both fans put out. Also what is the cfms it puts out stock compare the new to the old and you will come up with what you will need. Having that great shroud won't hurt you. Next thought was your car always a a/c car. If i remember right they had a different water pump for a/c and a different pulley size for a/c. Again just a thought.
