Supposedly a 70 RT track pack car, any input on errors or value?

What I like about it:
  1. It's a '70 Charger R/T 440 4 speed track pack with sure grip. Say no more!
  2. It's white. (rarely seen one myself)
  3. No vinyl top.
  4. No stripes.
  5. The novelty of late production.
  6. Looks good underneath.
What I don't like about it:
  1. Numbers matching engine is gone.
  2. Burnt orange interior (easily remedied)
  3. Rust in cowl area?
  4. Rust in sill areas?
  5. Those old weld repairs.
  6. The woodgrain instrument panel is gone. What else is lurking there? Probably doesn't matter since the whole dash assembly and instruments/wiring have to be restored anyway.

It is certainly worthy of saving.

I’m a UT grad, so white and burnt Orange with no vinyl top are my thing. Numbers matching motor being missing is common. It’s just clearly been sitting outside and water clearly gets in...as all the carpet was soaked. The shag was put over the factory carpet and insulation, all of which was soaked. Front floors and rear footwells needed for sure. The inside of the hood braces are crusty as well, and I don’t know how easy it is to find a good hood. The cowl also has a lot of crap in it, and with it being outside I’m sure that means the cowl needs to come off.

If it was super solid, I’d say 25 was fair. But it seems a bit high when you factor in all the rust work.

Apparently he would still sell, but is back to his second asking price of $29,500 plus at least 3500 for a date appropriate 440 hp2 block, exhaust manifolds and bell housing. I would assume he wants $33k ish. I almost regret not just buying it at 25k without motor.

I’ve seen cars double in that time... and other things. Someone sure got all that money that was printed up.

It wasn’t me.:(:D

If you go there with the $29,500 and a trailer you will come home with the car,the engine and the parts, money talks!

I mean is 28k fair, high or market for a car in that condition with a 6 pack

I guess after shopping around, it looks like $25k wasn’t bad after all. If it had a full build sheet I’d have probably bought it 6 months ago. I mean it’s a real numbers matching RT track pack, aside from the motor. I’d probably prefer a 68-69, but I could get behind a 70. The white and burnt orange combination with the vinyl top are very cool options to me, I’m sure it’s close to the only one like that.

I guess it just depends. What would a 6 pack short block, heads, manifolds and intake go for? I think he bought a short block that happened to be from a 6 pack and got the rest of the items that should have come on a 440 U code car. He says he has $3500 in it.

You will learn to love the 70,just the seats and the pistol grip shifter puts it it over the top! Believe me I know!

Its a California car,I am working on making it roadworthy. Its a V code 440 Sixpsck car. It was an automatic car,but the matching numbers transmission was missing,so now it has an 18 spline 4 speed and a dana 60 rear axle. It has the matching numbers engine. I had to repair rust around the rear window, and the center of the trunk floor, but other than that the car is very solid.

After seeing the condition and what’s included, is $29k or 29,500 a fair offer? I know there has been an exponential rise in charger prices. I know something is worth what you’re willing to pay, I just want to make sure it’s reasonable if that makes sense.

I am constantly amazed at the asking (Maybe also selling) prices of these cars.
I bought "Jigsaw" in Sept 2019 for $5000.

While it is the base model 1970 model, it is still a Charger. In 2 year's time, I replaced the entire front structure, added 12" front disc brakes, installed a 8 3/4" axle, rebuilt the original 383, got it running and driving and am probably $10,000 total in it as it sits here:

I have no intentions of selling it. I'd love input on what the members think it might be worth though.

I thought that the white R/T 440 4 speed car was a fair buy at 25k considering what people are paying for rusted hulks these days. Kerns car is the exception to the rule, yep there are occaisional deals like his car,but finding a deal like that on a 4 speed R/T track pack car are almost unheard of these days. The additional price of the parts he has rounded up,is to be expected. If you can buy the car with the parts under 30k I would still think you did ok. The only way to do this is to go there and show him the money.

No idea what it's worth but I kinda like it. I'm not very fond of a "patina" car to me patina means to laxy to fix it right. But yours seems to work.

If Kern were to body work the car a bit and prime it all one color,it would bring 25k or more in the current market.

I am always the guy saying these Chargers are too high. However I think this one even at $29k is good value. For me the only important option on it that needs documenting is the four speed and an original VIN punched on the 4 speed case trumps a FT anyday. The Dana is there too. You snooze you lose. I love the colours too, buy it now or you'll regret it.

About 5 years ago I bought this plum crazy purple 70 Charger R/T roller for 7 grand, its a California car too. The plan is to build a replica of the 70 purple sunroof Daytona R/T SE out of it. They could still be found for reasonable money back then.

At this rate if you have the loot get over there with money and a trailer and go at it. If you decide later it’s too big of a project it’s not the hardest car to have to get out from under!

On another note, how hard is replacing burnt orange seat backs? Looks like it has black 70 buckets and a 68-69 dash. I know the little things cost you on these.

I bought a nice pair of burnt orange seat backs from a member on here, and gave them a coat of fresh burnt orange interior paint from herbs. They look great.
