Supposedly a 70 RT track pack car, any input on errors or value?

I suppose the days of $7k RTs are gone. Hopefully the current market is here to stay if I dump $30k on it lol.

I have learned grills are big ticket items. The outer silver part is pretty broken in areas…with some chunks missing. Can this sort of grill damage be replaced? Or does this need a new grill? I know reproductions are available, but I also see many people repairing stock ones

There are real good epoxy adhiesives that work well to repair them these days. I built this grille from a bunch of broken pieces and a grille frame someone left next to the trashcan at Carlisle next to my vending spot.

I wonder about the current market strength myself. Is recession coming? Who knows. However, these 2nd gen chargers are different. Traditionally the collector car values follow the age of the group that knew them young. Remember when model A fords were expensive?
Todays up coming groups remember them from 80’s TV and most recently all the Fast and Furious movies. People in their late teens and 20’s know a Charger when they see one. The interest is going to be there for some time.

The FnF franchise was the best thing to happen for ‘70 Chargers. I remember when it came out, and immediately thought they would finally go up in value like the ‘68-‘69.

I agree,it's nice to see 70 Chargers getting their long overdue respect, considering all the cool options that were not available on 68 and 69 Chargers.

Any idea what a 70 6 pack 440 short block is worth? Supposedly the heads, intake and manifolds are for the Standard 4 bbl.

It looks like a 70 375 HP engine, unless the pistons have been changed. Sixpack pistons have valve reliefs cut in them, they also have a 3 bolt cam timing gear like a Hemi. Not all HP2 engines are Sixpack engines, some are U code 440 magnum engines with the Sixpack larger rods rotating assembly.

The guy said it had 68 heads on it, so I’m assuming it’s been through some changes

I thought all 70 HP engines were the same internally? At least that’s what I’ve seen in several 4bbl. HP cars. HP2 denotes 2nd shift assembly. The easiest telltale is the damper with the offset weight.

The heads on all ‘68-‘70 B/RB engines are the same. Often referred to as ‘906’. They added valve spring dampers on the HP stamped version, and supposedly sodium filled valves. The 383 2bbl in my ‘68 Satellite 4 door has the same heads as my V code Charger and ‘Cuda.

So basically it’s a U code 70 440-4 bbl motor. He said he paid $3500 for that and the bell housing. Did he get robbed on that motor or is that the going rate?

If it had fresh machine work it might be a good price. Some pay a high up charge for an HP or HP2 stamp. That’s all it is, a stamp to denote internal parts.

Everyone assumes that all HP 2 engines were Sixpack engines, but some were 440 Magnum engines as well. It's probably worth about two grand. it is the correct engine for the U code track pack Charger R/T.

My Charger has HP2 stamped on the pad, and my ‘Cuda has HP. Same engine. I was told back in the 80’s that all Six Packs had HP2. Later it was said to mean 2nd shift.

At this rate if you have the loot get over there with money and a trailer and go at it. If you decide later it’s too big of a project it’s not the hardest car to have to get out from under!

On eBay I’m guessing this would go for close to or more than asking?

All 68-70 big block cars used the same 906 heads

The Sixpack engines had a 10.5 to 1 compression ratio, hence the need for the valve reliefs in the pistons. The 440 Magnum was 10 to 1 compression ratio. Also they had the 3 bolt Hemi timing gear set.

Seller is firm, $29,500 for everything. He has the console hurst shifter. Console and rear window lower trim are missing.

Go get it!
