Suregrip or not

I need a little educating on 8.75 rear .heres my question.with the rear end of my car off the ground in neutral, I spin one wheel and the other wheel spins the opposite direction,is it for sure not a suregrip? when I get down on the throttle the car seems to burn rubber with both tires. its a 742 case. could it be the cone bw type?

If you have sure-grip, both tires will rotate in the same direction when you spin either one. If you let one tire to the ground and try to spin the other one by hand, it won't move with sure-grip, but will move and rotate the driveshaft if it's an open diff.
 
It is not a sure grip unless something is seriously wrong with it. Reason you are able to lay down two tracks is because you have even weight distribution on both wheels. We used to use air bags on a non posi rear end and adjust the air pressure till it would lay down two tracks ...............................MO
 
after I added my rear sway bar both wheels would spin with open diff
 
ok just took it out and it was a sure grip,i guess the clutching discs are worn-out
