hi guys. finally after a week plus waiting, the Javelin is in the barn. All the way from California, and it dont like this weather in Pittsburgh. THE BODY IS BEAUTIFUL... but this car needs alot of Tpodwdog lovvin'. a good buffing and detailing is in order. i clay bar-ed the trunk and the paint will shine nicely...with some love of course. heres a rundown of what i found at a fast glance. its cold, raining, miserable, but i found some time to give it the once-over. nothing major....mainly cosmetic........ :

1.both bumpers are dented and should be replaced.
2.the windsheild wipers work,,,but barely
3.the dash glass is hazed up...BUT THE BODY IS SOLID:headbang:
4.needs new carpet...BADLY...its disintegrating and turns to powder.
5.the tail lights are fogged and need replaced.BUT THE BODY IS SOLID:headbang:
6.the radiator is cilled with rusty nasty stinky water.
7.the windsheild and rear windows leak.
8.body panels dont line up( doors, fenders bla bla )
9.headliner is sagging and needs fixed
10. all the lights work except the interior....so far
11.trunk key cylinder is broken
12.shifter handle broken
13.console compartment ready to fall off....BUT THE BODY IS SOLID !:headbang:
14. the A/C dont work. and evaporator needs replaced ( thing in front of the rad )
15.engine compartment was sprayed black....along with everything else.(wires,overflow bottle,pisser bottle...you name it)
16.there are lug locks on the mags......NO KEY !

all these things are easily fixable with time and money. all its a nice car...and THE BODY IS SOLID . heres a few pix javelin 007.jpgjavelin 008.jpgjavelin 009.jpgjavelin 010.jpgjavelin 011.jpgjavelin 012.jpg

Muriatic acid soak 50/50 with water. If you are gonna chuck'em anyway give it a try. Most cringe at the thought....but it does work.

So how is the body? Is it solid? I don't think you mentioned that. :tongue5:

Taillights tell me it's a '72.

Very cool - I always had a soft spot for Javelins and AMXs (and Gremlins... shhhh.). Congrats on the new baby!

Yeah try that because it is how a lot of big time restoration shops do it. I also do not think those are reproduced. I'm not sure what AMC parts are and wish I knew because I do love them.

I'm in Virginia and there are still a few junk yard in my area that have some older cars in them. If you can't find them let me know and I will see if they have them for you and get you the numbers.

Also the bumpers they could be fixed if they are not reproduced so dont chuck them either. It looks like a good car and AMC is part of the MOPAR family so you are still in a MOPAR....Kind of lol.

Congrats on the score and enjoy the car after this crazy weather. We are now getting high winds in my area and it should be to you in just a few hours.

Keep us posted that is a badass car man!

Good eye, I couldn't even see the taillights, I was thinking a 73. Good call. I had a 74, loved that car. Almost bought another one to restore until I remembered how hard it was to find parts for it in '74 :) Good luck with it, always loved the fenders and dash.

Glad it arrived safe and sound! Hey, you are very thorough and after reading your list I feel a little bad like I didn't inspect things well enough. It sounds like you still got your moneys worth though, am I correct? How does the motor run in your opinion?

Of your 3 cars I still dig your 66 belvedere II the most!

And by the way, you've got a really sweet spread there with the barn. Something that's rare where I live. I had no garage until 3 months ago and now using my 2 car garage with the car on one side and the washer/dryer and beer fridge on the other but no land to speak of like your green lush paradise there.

Congrats on what looks like a real sweet ride. Sounds like just a few little things to be taken care of, nothing major that you mentioned or in pics. You will continue to notice things as you go over it better, just take care of them as you see them. Don't throw away any parts, good or bad. Buy anything you see at fair prices as time goes by, so you have a stash when you do need them, even if you don't need it now you never know. I don't know but you may get on other forums (just don't expect one like here) to discuss your new car and maybe pick up some pointers or parts. So just in cae I forgot to tell you NICE RIDE.

Very nice....happy to see it made it ok ...I was nervous about the open trailer and the car wasn't even coming to my house....Looks great.
