The Long Road to my 74 Satellite Rebuild

Thanks guys I appreciate it! He told me the rear half of he car has been stripped. Ill post pics once he sends them.

Hey guys, so the body work has started on the car. My uncle has the rear passenger side pretty much done and working on the rear drivers side today. Said hopefully have the rear quarters primed by Friday or Monday. Here are a few pics.

Haha seriously, looks a little ridicules. I just re arched the springs right before starting the body work, so it will settle a little bit but taller tires will still be necessity. Been debating how those new 17" rallye wheels would look on my car. Id do it if i can fit enough sidewall too, im really not a fan of the "rubber band" tires.

Your car is coming along very nicely. Thanks for taking the time to show all your work!

17s...naw, just slap a set of15x10 slots with some L50s....that's what I did with my '73. looked sweet!

I have no idea what the L50s would be equal too. I have 2756015s on mine, that seems to be the standard for the '68-'70 bodies. My buddy has the same size on his '71.

That is a sharp 71 and you sir are coming along great on your 74! Looking good..

L50's are about 14 inches wide across the tread. It was the old way of determining tire size. N50's G60's, H70's. Your uncle can probably tell you stories of how many of those tires he smoked. The work on your car is progressing nicely,

Thanks guys! The cars been at my uncles since February i am beyond anxious to drive her again. I've missed where i can drive and work on it at the same time. And i really want to see how that new overdrive transmission performs.

My uncle sent me some more pictures of the car so far. Said he found more surface rust around the rear glass than he expected so he had to pull it out to fix it. He also got my go wing mounted. Very excited.

Still trying to figure out what to do with my aluminum window trim. Its in pretty rough shape as far as scratches. I know i can sand and buff them out but then i have to recoat it too keep it from oxyadizing. Has any one seen these painted? Maybe black? Im really unsure.

What are you guys thoughts?

Does your donor car have a good right side chromed rear window trim as mine is pitted

If you are still going with yellow I do not think black would look good for that trim

Bruce

I might have an extra trim im not sure but i am pretty sure it has sanding marks on it. I know for sure need the left side of the trim, unsure about the right yet. Ya i think black would make it too stripy. Or i can just fill the holes and delete the trim. Im having a hard time deciding.

I'd stay with the chrome, even scartched untill you find better.

Hey guys. The rear half of the car is primered. I ending up having my uncle delete the trim around the quarter glass. Hes gonna start on the door and front half of the car today. He had a bit of a problem with the primer going on dry. Even at 8 in the morning its still almost to hot. Hes still gonna sand, block, reprime and block again before paint. Here are some pics. I'm so excited at how good that valance looks!
