Thanks guys!! She sounds pretty sweet now too! I wanted the factory tips originally but the wasn't excited out the price. Dropped the 46 rh transmission off today gonna start pulling the 727 out.
Well she is only 12, and I have been training her already so when its time I shouldnt have any problems. But there is no chance she is taking it out. Maybe her senior prom. But Isnt the guy supposed to provide the ride?
Thanks guys! Rsd that is a sweet video, sounds awesome man!
I ended up letting a local shop do the rebuild on the 46RH, picked it up today. Looks great, and they found some other parts that needed replacing.
Still gotta modify the transmission case to fit in the car, but here's some pics.
Keep plugging away at her! Your moving right along and doing it up right. Im just saving money right now to have my body work done and paint job. I just put new KYB front shocks on, and a new brake caliper. A few weekends ago my daughter wanted to stripe the bird, so we did. It was my first time doing this but it turned out pretty good. Plus it was a good time with my daughter. Just need to do the hood next.
I cant decide if I wanna go with regular shocks or some fresh air shocks or those monroe sensa trac coil overs on the back. I like it jacked up in the back a little bit.
Stripes look good man....Shocks look they definitely needed to be retired. I'd avoid air shocks like the plague for your Plymouth. They like to crack/rip out shock crossmembers and ride like a lumber wagon. If you have old springs on there, odds are putting in a new set will raise the car in the rear. There's also the option of re-arching springs or taller tires. Keep up the good work..
Hey no problem rsd, but to be honest with you, the coil overs will do the same thing. If you ever put your hands and eyes up close on a shock crossmember, you'll know just how flimsy they are. Myself I would consider them the weak link of the mopar suspension system. Basically what you're doing with air shocks/coil overs is using them to make up for a weak suspension or there lack of to suite your needs. Adding them effects the dynamics of how the rest of the suspension is designed and engineered to work, and generally speaking....not in a good way. I know AR Engineering or someone out there was is or was making shock crossmember stiffening plates to help or accomodate air/coil's, but one could accomplish that themselves merely with some 14 gauge steel plates or welding in some sort of cross braces. Regardless, IMO you're going to be better off installing leaf springs that handle the load, disperse travel/momentum accordingly and raise the car as you want. That, or like mentioned..a taller tire. Hope it pans out for you what ever route you decide to go.
Rsd if you wanna do it cheep id find a local blacksmith shop that will re-arch your springs for you and put regular shocks on. Local shop did mine for $80 he have me 2+ inches no problem. Rearend is super jacked up now i like it. I know guys say it wont last as long but this was cheep and easy and allows me to save for new springs farther down the road.
