When I first got married, I tore down barns on side to make extra money. People just wanted them gone and I was just the man to give a helping hand. Those old 6x12 beams and 1x12's kept food on my table when I needed it most. I've done a lot of things, I won't do now, to make the things I owned then, stay in my name. Many of my old friends use to laugh at me while they were having fun and I was breaking my back. When I retired at 52, same age as my brother did, who is 7 years older, they didn't have to ask how. Several are still working at seventy. You can either do it up front when you're young and full of piss and vinegar or when you're old and your dick is dragging the ground. Pick your poison!!'Round here, folks will come tear down old structures for you and split the money on re-selling the wood out
of them - IF it's the right type of wood.
Gen Z types love to brag to their friends about their "barn find" wood-enhanced structures...
All very true, of course - unless the often-unpredictable health factor kicks in....When I first got married, I tore down barns on side to make extra money. There's a big difference between lazy and an out right act of God. Everyone is one step away from something they have no power to control. As you said, trust me on that one!!!!All very true, of course - unless the often-unpredictable health factor kicks in....
Not complaining, mind you - but that rascal will render prudent life/career decisions moot in a damn hurry.
Trust me on that one.
Words of a top notch estate planner at a seminar I attended - “health is the most under appreciated form of capital.”All very true, of course - unless the often-unpredictable health factor kicks in....

Well, I dunno about all that - I've managed to cost us six figures to not be dead so far. Just sayin'.Well said!!
I have lost many friends and the more money they had....... just meant more was left to others. At least for now, money can't buy life, thank God.
