Exact would be awesome but not that necessary, by the partial I know I should be a coronet or charger. I am trying to find out witch one of the two it actually is. Any help would be great. The partial is 0G227802

I got it from the pan rail passenger side of the block and it's a 440 6 pack.

Casting number is correct for 440 six pack car..vin number is incomplete for a search...Did you try to match the partial vin with the vin on your car?

Its not the original engine for my car. It started life with a 383. I'm thinking of selling it and would love to see it go to the proper car is all.

Per the partial V.I.N. it was a St. Louis built car for the 1970 model year.

The partial V.I.N. does not show what body it came from.

I THINK St. Louis built C bodies as well as B bodies. I know they were the only plant that built convertibles B bodies but the C body converts MAY not have been built there. So, if they built Cs there it could have been put in a Charger, GTX, R/T, or any C body with or without an HP 440 engine.

What does it have on the pad in front of the distributor? It should say F440 and have a date on it that will be the day and month it was assembled. If it was a factory Hipo engine it will have HP or HP2 on this same pad.

I will be at work for 3 weeks, I'll have to look when I get back. Thanks for all the info.

D, STL built only B bodies in 70. Never built any C's that I know of. A bodies were added in '73.

The engine was a 70, it could be RR or GTX, Charger R/T, Super Bee or Coronet R/t

The VIN doesn't match up real well with a SB or Coronet R/T.
My WAG is a Charger or RR/GTX

Thanks Doug.

The factories over the years switched around with what they built from time to time and I have never keep track of all of the plants and what they built at all times.

The OP should know that the ONLY way the 440 would have been installed in a RR or Bee in 1970 would be if it was a six pack engine. The only way to determine that is if someone came forward with the complete V.I.N. of a known car.
