Waking up the beast

The MSD just keeps time for the band. If you have it locked down @ so much that is that. Check the rotor & cap. Breaking up below 5 or 6K not in the cards.. Timing jumping around is spark. Go get e'm Dave

End play on lower part of MSD dist shaft?
Add a washer or 2 until there isn't.
Gear reasonance will make it want to ride up and down at speed, and timing will be "fuzzy", rather rock solid.

I was talking to a couple guys at the track that said they needed to shim the shaft.
If I have to take apart something that I just spent 300 bucks on to get it close to a stock one, its going back.
Im not against tinkering, but its principle.

Just went out in the semis at Mopars at the patch.
Car ran well and was pretty consistent.
Best time early was 10.17@ 133.62.
Really happy about that.
Broke out in the last race.

You are right, you should not be required to correct sloppiness and ignorance in the manufacture of a brand new part.
If there is end play, don't just send it back, scorch their eyes with an inquiry as to why they would sell a "performance" part and disregard basic mechanical fundamentals that can only result in poor results.
I'm not naturally cranky, but when marketing becomes more important than substance or results, I get damn cranky.

Was it singing a tune, instead of hunting for the right pitch?
Looks like it must be smoother at speed.

Your running mid-hi 9's Mph 133-ish

There will be no trophy pictures today as I broke out in the semi finals.
10.238 on a 10.24 dial

Tinkering, tweaking and tuning.
Maybe a little twerking.
