Wanting to know if it's a good idea to burn E-85 in my RR after setting my fuel system
up?
Anybody done it yet with there stock HP engine?
What jets and what timing did you have to go to, to make it run like hell?

You'll have to change every gasket in the fuel system. But, it does burn cleaner

If you're hoping for more power but you're wondering if it will show up, be aware that the greatest benefit is the higher octane. Higher than your engine was designed to use, so it's likely that you won't see a huge improvement. High compression, or super/turbo-charged engines will love it but you say yours is stock. Before going to the effort and expense of switching to alcohol compatible carbs, fuel tank and system, try a tank of 100+ octane racing gas. That will give you an idea of the kind of timing advance you'll get away with and will give you an idea of what that level of octane from e85 can do for you. You might decide that it isn't worth the switch.

Add to above that, although it is cheaper because of government (our) subsidies, you use approximately 30% more fuel compared to gasoline. Unless you need the higher octane it doesn't make sense...

No, it's a dumb-*** idea.

Having converted a gasoline engine over to E85 I can tell you it will "run like hell", especially if you don't know what you are doing. I spent a bunch of money and time on the conversion for a very expensive engine. After the experience, I made the decision to never again build an engine, for myself, that wouldn't run (and run very well) on 91 (or less) octane pump gas.

But yeah, it did make 696 RWHP.

We run E85. Runs fine. However it's not a jet and go. The entire fuel system needs aproximately 30% greater volume. This means upgraded fuel delivery, metering block mods, needle seat, floats, and in high end apllications a bigger fuel bowl. We run aprox 850hp thru a modified 750 Holley. Contact Horsepower inovations 616 929 5800. They are great to work with.
