What’s your favorite sandwich meat

Many years ago (late '90s), our USAF crew was transiting through Philly on a civiliian airliner, on out way to Saudi. One of the guys was from Philly, and told us about a sandwich shop five minutes from the airport that had the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches on the planet. We have a six-hour layover, hell, yeah, let's eat! He phoned the shop and made an order for forty sandwiches. The guy asked if we wanted them delivered...sure, saves us cab fare! Got the money from everyone, guy delivers at the airport where two of our guys are waiting for him (delivery guy got a BIG tip!), and we proceeded to eat like kings, Philly Cheesesteak-style. I'd never had a true PCS sandwich before, and I tell ya, I became a HUGE fan of them then!

Time being what it is, I have no idea what the name of the shop was. I wish I did, because I'd give it a long-due shout-out for the absolutely best sandwich I had ever had, to that point.
I'm wondering if it was Pat's Steaks or Geno's Steaks. Both are very well known for Philly Cheesesteaks. Either of those ring a bell?

McKenzie Wildflower Honey ham.... on Dave's 21 Grain Super Bread, toasted, Hellman's Real Mayo, salt and Dakin Farm Maple Pepper with a Cates Sweet pickle slice. Applewood smoked Vermont Farms bacon and slice of home grown beefeater tomato....a slice of Cabot Farms provolone cheese ....Ahhh yessss.....

Geno's sounds right. Gotta tell ya, that sandwich hit the spot before going across the pond!

I use Duke's Mayonnaise, you should try it.
Dukes and of course Hellman's/Best's are the best out of any spread IMHFO!!! I just don't see Miracle Whip as being Mayo as most of it tastes like a synthetic blend oo I don't know what. Just not a palatable taste is all. The other Mayo of choice is making my own homemade. But a tad bit time consuming so I opt for those 2. I also enjoy a true Muffuletta, Cuban and I forgot a delicacy type sandwich that some might also frown upon. Going up in Chi-town I would always patronize Jewish Delis once and a while for a fine sandwich for lunch. At one I spied a Beef Tongue Sandwich on Rye with Mustard, Horseradish, Lettuce and a sliced Pickle. Having grown up eating it as my Mom would serve it on occasion, I tried the deli version and it was fantastic!!! Funny but how tough that Tongue can be before it is pressure cooked and after stripping the rough skin off, the meat was so tender and moist it would melt in your mouth. Fast forward to me moving out west in the 60's, I got hooked on Mexican Beef Tongue Tacos Barbacoa style. Now that's some good eatin' Maynard!!!....cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

And now, to hot dogs. I like them. Don't really care how they got there or what part of a pig's ***, cow's ***, or ground gnat's feces is in it, I like hot dogs. BEEF hot dogs, that is!

I have relatives in the Chicago area. Of course, they swear by Chicago dogs, with the pickle spear and all that. I like a Chicago dog with ketchup. That strokes anyone out from Chicago! I'll send my cousin a pic of a nice, delicious, grilled dog with ketchup. She hates that!

One last thing...here is something I discovered quite by accident at my Dad's restaurant around 1975 or so. We'd grill the hot dogs, never steamed them. I took a hot dog and went to squirt a little ketchup on it and eat it - I really didn't like the bun part, just the dog. I had squirted Hershey's chocolate syrup on it, instead, and took a big bite. Realizing my error, I thought "hey, this isn't half-bad!", and so, I'll grill up a couple of hot dogs occasionally and pour chocolate syrup on them, and eat them, minus a bun or anything else. Surprisingly, this treat has never caught on with my family or friends...I just don't know why!

As a born and raised Chi town area individual, I have to say...Y'all got some very weird takes on how you eat your Dogs. But OK to each their own I guess. Vienna Beef Hot Dogs are the best!!! Steamed of course without that red stuff. To us it is a dis-service the venerable Chi-town style Hot Dog. Mustard, Relish, Tomato and Celery Salt as I omit the Onions and Sport Peppers. I can taste one now. The Chocolate Syrup thing is rather unique too. Never heard of that concept before...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Not trying to one up ya, but when I was a kid I went to make a bologna sandwich, we were out of Mayo so I thought about it and decided to put Jif crunchy peanut butter on it which actually was pretty good. The salty flavor and the crunch seemed to accentuate the flavor of the bologna!
I have been afraid to try it again though as an adult...

Scramble some eggs with grated cheddar and add in cooked Mexican sausage, Chirizmo, OK so I can spell Mexican!

Youre embarrassing me and the other Texans here... We don't call it Mexican sausage...its Chorizo....and roll the "R" when you type it...

If the wife is driving, then we need to add beer.
