What did you do to your Mopar today?

I have that to do yet. Hopefully by next spring.

I got my 64 Dodge driveable this Summer. With Summer heat and A833 with 90 wt. gear oil in it, I couldn't shift very fast without some gear grinding --synchro's probably worn a little on the inside. Today, I took a friend for a ride--cooler temps and gear oil was probably not as high temp as it would be after driving several miles. I am about ready to put the car away for Winter, so not too worried about hurting something. I ran it hard thru the gears , quick shifted without a bit of gear grind. Opinions on why not?? and If I can do anything to make it work like that next Summer?..............................MO

You knew this was coming my friend......drive it like that all the time.
OK now that the fun poke is over, is it only on the 1-2 shift, or any? Has a rebuild been done?, if not tear into it- rebuild kit ,bearings, and synchro's aren't that much. That's what I think winter is for, taking a running/driving car, rip it apart, and get it running again. Sense of accomplishment thing.

Put the wheels back on my step side. Man, I L-O-V-E my Gray air jack!

Put the motor mounts on my Satellite 318 and put the trim back on the fenders.
Big shout out to Jeff from 521 Restorations, as he's the only place to get the correct clips.

Picked up these valve covers at Garlits'.

Not perfect but acceptable and price was right.

Supposed to be powder coat ceramic.

My bumpers are so flimsy on my 64 Dodge, I don't dare using a bumper jack--especially the factory one that stores in the trunck.
Yes Jeff at 521 restorations is top notch vendor, and he has some hard to find stuff........................MO

Rips gears on the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. Never tried the 3-4 shift as I am starting to lose my nerve at that speed ! When I bought the tranny, we inspected the insides --looked real good, But I understand the "dogs" shouldn't show any wear. My days of having fun by taking out drive line componets and putting them back in, is in my past. 8-) .. Maybe ice cubes in the gear oil, or heavier gear oil would make the synchros work good all the time?????:steering:..................MO

Worked on pulling the dash out, getting there slowly. The floor pan and firewall not that bad. Most of the rust is right around all of the wheel wells. The only rust on the fire wall is where the high/low beam switch is.

Milled pockets on the caliper brackets, to clear the Green-bearings....then reassembled the rear, again. I had spacers on there before.

Nice! Thanks for the idea for supporting my rear while working on it.

LOL...got lucky on having the right stuff handy. Be careful....it'll roll and slide. I dropped the pig in from the vertical position. Overall, it worked-out well.

Finished up the brakes on my 64ply tonight, put the master on and ran the last two lines from the master to the block on the frame, all new wheel cyl. new master, and all new steel lines, with new rubber lines. am going this time with synthetic so as to try and eliminate the rust and corrosion in a system that won't be driven on a daily basis. should be putting in the engine in a few days. Dave.

I finished the clutch install and RE gasket of general D getting ready to swing back into truck now

Finally got a direction and making some progress on re-building the upper rear shock mounts on the 67 Belvedere convertible . . .

Multiple holes for adjustments . . .

sm_shockmounts02.jpg

How it'll hold the shocks . . .

sm_shockmounts01.jpg

How it'll be fabricated into a crossmember to span between the frame rails and be welded to the floor of the trunk . . .

The angle is to ( hopefully ) account for the change in angle as the shock moves further inboard . . .

That's great . . . would you get your rear OFF that seat and get back to work already ! ! ! ( GRIN ) . . .

Looking great ! ! !

That Dynomat is good stuff
Yah, my first time using it to this degree. I picked up some dynaliner to put ontop of that. Gonna be night and day once I'm done (when I get time finish), before I was driving on bare floors.

Beautiful Barracuda, if I ever do this again it may be something like that.

Today, headers, engine, got it sitting down in the frame w/ motor mounts buttoned up, tomorrow starter and some wires, headlights ect, ect, . then the hard part(to me) all that wiring, msd ing.,tach adapter, and tach. whew!! Dave.
