I have that to do yet. Hopefully by next spring.
You knew this was coming my friend......drive it like that all the time.I got my 64 Dodge driveable this Summer. With Summer heat and A833 with 90 wt. gear oil in it, I couldn't shift very fast without some gear grinding --synchro's probably worn a little on the inside. Today, I took a friend for a ride--cooler temps and gear oil was probably not as high temp as it would be after driving several miles. I am about ready to put the car away for Winter, so not too worried about hurting something. I ran it hard thru the gears , quick shifted without a bit of gear grind. Opinions on why not?? and If I can do anything to make it work like that next Summer?..............................MO
My bumpers are so flimsy on my 64 Dodge, I don't dare using a bumper jack--especially the factory one that stores in the trunck.Put the wheels back on my step side. Man, I L-O-V-E my Gray air jack!
Put the motor mounts on my Satellite 318 and put the trim back on the fenders.
Big shout out to Jeff from 521 Restorations, as he's the only place to get the correct clips.

Rips gears on the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. Never tried the 3-4 shift as I am starting to lose my nerve at that speed ! When I bought the tranny, we inspected the insides --looked real good, But I understand the "dogs" shouldn't show any wear. My days of having fun by taking out drive line componets and putting them back in, is in my past. 8-) .. Maybe ice cubes in the gear oil, or heavier gear oil would make the synchros work good all the time?????..................MOYou knew this was coming my friend......drive it like that all the time.
OK now that the fun poke is over, is it only on the 1-2 shift, or any? Has a rebuild been done?, if not tear into it- rebuild kit ,bearings, and synchro's aren't that much. That's what I think winter is for, taking a running/driving car, rip it apart, and get it running again. Sense of accomplishment thing.
LOL...got lucky on having the right stuff handy. Be careful....it'll roll and slide. I dropped the pig in from the vertical position. Overall, it worked-out well.
Yah, my first time using it to this degree. I picked up some dynaliner to put ontop of that. Gonna be night and day once I'm done (when I get time finish), before I was driving on bare floors. That Dynomat is good stuff
