What did you do to your Mopar today?

Got the 1955 Plymouth moving under its own power for the first time since fall.

I re-installed the Tuff Stuff 100 amp 1 wire alternator after replacing the voltage regulator. Alternator cost $180 new. Get this, the new VR was $50. What a rip off.

I had a local shop that specializes in wire and makes heir own electrical connectors build me a 4 gauge wire to run from the alternator to the starter relay. It cost me about 1/3 what the wire alone would have cost to order online and they made it right there while I waited.

Just sitting in her in the garage having a Jack n coke. VACATION STARTS NOW. I was going to go to the track tonight to try and dial in the car some more but it rained earlier and there's still a chance of rain this evening so I'll just stay home. Next weekend is a Mopar vs Mopar race at the track that I wanted to test for. So I guess I'll go in blind. I only have a couple of runs for reference.

LOTS of work done today: Went down to the local DMV inspection station to get my VIN verified, then spent a good portion of the day detailing the vinyl interior after a good washing/scrubbing/vacuuming/window cleaning last weekend. Sprayed my carb (outside & in) with carb cleaner, replaced a burned out fender lamp & adjusted the driver side headlamp that was way out of adjustment. Drove it around town to plenty of thumbs up & people telling me what they drove back in the late 60's.

Pushed it out of the garage for a well deserved wash and wax!

Had to fab some 1/8" plates for the frame rails to properly fit my upper cross bar for triangulated 4 link, welding got off to a bad start but got better as I went on. Hopefully wrap up the rear suspension install today

6 year old thread still going strong!

I changed the oil and filter and in the process of replacing the old and very worn out tie rod ends, maybe I' ll do the shocks this week as well.

I pulled the small block bracket off the federal power steering pump I picked up used, then de- greased it. Tomorrow I'll take it apart and soak it in white vinegar to de-rust it. Ordered a timing chain set, intake gasket, a repop 67' style alternator bracket and yes I have a water pump housing for a 67', so it should bolt up to the 78' engine. I did find a spare tire bracket on ebay, from a 78' B body, so I bought it to mount the spare in the trunk space it self. I have tools and emergency stuff in the spare tire well. Will be out there tomorrow doing some more by noon. I have yard work to do first.

Finally!...still a long ways to get it where I want it, but in the meantime we drive!

Since my back is so jacked-up, I've really slowed down...and have to get others to do heavy or tight-quarters work. Just have to paint my runner steering-wheel, clean the carpet, and install the bench seat. The WO is going to Motofab, to have some of the above described type work done. I can trust Ernie and his guys to do stuff correctly. It's loaded in the trailer, and will go there this weekend. I should have 2 cars back together by the 5th or 6th. Then comes finishing the project from hell......the `cuda.

Got my car back from a week at the shop. They installed a PST super rubber front end kit, replaced the worn shocks with Bilsteins, and added sub-frame connectors. WOW!!! What a difference! The car feels so much more planted and solid with no strange noises coming from the front end. I feel like I could take it to the track (I won't, but I can now drive it like I stole it) :D
I drove it all afternoon doing errands with a huge grin on my face!

Got home from work hoping to see a big box of parts from 65roadracer sitting on the porch. Found an "attempted delivery notice" instead from Fedx, they want a signature. Bummer. I'll be working from home for a while tomorrow to make sure I get them. Taking Friday afternoon off to start putting the front suspension back together.
