What did you do to your Mopar today?

Been a couple weeks since I checked the oil in Brutus. Dipstick pulled out rather hard and would not go back in. Evidently the tube got bent when the motor mount was replaced at a mechanic's shop. Took the tube out to see what the problem was, tried to straighten it and the end that goes into the block, cracked. I have tried to find a stock tube. All that I find are chrome--uuhg..don't want chrome. ................MO
YO and Classic Industries have steel ones you can paint, but they don't work around headers. If you're OK with aftermarket, the Lokar flexible dipstick and tube is a nice piece. Double O ring on the bottom prevents leaks and the flexible tube is nice around headers.

Adjusted shift linkage on 4 speed. Them broke my balls putting H-pipe back on. 20 years ago bought a set of swap meet headers ant had them coated. The catch the collector bolt pattern is no longer used. So I made an adapter out of 3/8" aluminum which one side bolts to the headers other side to the reducers. Put studs on the reducer side, error. Have to push like hell on H- pipe to get them over studs, that's going to change.

Did a compression test and changed all the spark plugs then washed the car from weekends car show!

Thanks, I didn't look further than Summit and Jegs and Mancinni. I want the car for a show coming up next Saturday. Our local welder tig welded it for me..good as new or maybe even better. .........................MO

On Saturday, I drove to Coffee and Cars (their 6th anniversary in OKC), then put another one hundred miles on the Coronet, just to enjoy a gorgeous Saturday. Just me and the car, with both the phone and radio turned off, and nothing but the music of a big block and dual exhaust! So, altogether I put a little over 150 miles on it on Saturday. Fun times, kids...fun times!

Got my 84 Grand Fury cop car boomed down and ready to travel to the Mopar Nats.

More wiring! More fixing! Still going......

I probably will start this re wire's own thread.. I've run into several things that I've had to deviate from the Ron Francis re wire kit. It might help others in the future even if they are using other kits..

So, stand by.....

What happened Melon,fuel boil?

luckily not.

my buddy gave me 24 feet of the thermotec wrap and a sheet of thermotec adhesive stuff. i had a bunch of zipties so i figured why not.

Took my radio out, went to Autozone to get new wire & clips & re-wired the radio to the orig. dash speaker. Was so happy it still worked! Also cleaned up the light contacts a well. Took out all of the old 20A fuses & replaced with all new ones.

Anyone tell me what the plastic thingy is for in the 2nd pic?

Free'ed up and lubed the speedometer shaft that drives the needle. Tried to set the odometer back to zero miles ( gave up on that ! ) Speedo drive is OK, inner cable is free and lubed, and the speedo needle STILL waves around --no noise or jerking. Odometer works OK.
Bit the bullet and got the high priced Spectre fresh air induction hose and connectors--should have got them in the first place. Put them on Friday night for the Saturday car show.
Today I ordered the Pertronix III points conversion with the built in rev limiter. multi spark, and built in spark retard for high RPM. This all fits inside the stock Mopar distributor--no other box needed. Good for my stealthy ignition. I also got the Pertronix Flame Thrower 45,000 volt coil , black, looks stock and does not need a ballast resistor. And then ordered the adjustable advance weights limiter with 3 sets of lighter springs. ........................MO

Installed the driver side key cylinder, removed the ignition and managed to get the old cylinder out and installed the new cylinder. My car now has a full set of new locks and keys! Probably should install an engine.....

Working on cleaning up all of the frontend components and making a list of stuff to buy.
