What did you do to your Mopar today?

Got the NEW Doug's headers, ceramic coated, polished...from Jegs today
ARP Head bolts arrived today (Jeg's)
Machine shop said NO Cracks in Heads, manifold looks good
New Valves, springs, the works for the Heads
YES: Original 1969 SC/Rambler Heads (390)
That was reassuring
#2 Car made out of 1,512
More to come
Awaiting Crane/Crower and Comp to get back with me for CAM recomendations
Going with a Roller set-up

I started on the '55 Plymouth wagon's rear seat armrest tops. The last vestige of the smell of mice.

I gave Montana two black eyes this morning...
I was working on another project that involved some Satin Black paint, so I figured why not. A quick masking with some painters tape, and voila!

About a week ago, we got the turn signal indicators in the dash working , but they flashed rapidly. All lights work. Got a new electronic "louder" flasher today. What a PITA finding that flasher when it makes no noise, and the car has A/C. The Fsm doesn't tell where it is with A/C. Viola! signals work fine now , and I can hear the flasher. Yesterday I got the missing parts for the parking brake all put together. Park brake cables are available from NAPA for 1968 B body. Park brake works now.... Happy Birthday to me!.........................MO

Are the park cables still encased on plastic tubing? Installed mine in early 80’s and still work great.

I'm getting the front end parts together loosely to see what I'm missing. Making a list. had to get different thickness nylon lock nuts for the brake caliper bracket, the others were striking the frame before the turn stop nub did. I have the left side all together and complete. On to the right side. Once I have it all together i'll take it apart and clean and paint everything. It helps to see it together to decide what to paint and what colors.

We have this on one of the Mustang sites I frequent. Basically post up what you did to your B-Body today. Whether it be paining, cutting, modding, etc. anything goes. Feel free to ask questions as well.

(Mods move if wrong spot)

I'll start:

Took the rear bumper off my '71 Charger. I'm working on removing all the brackets, lights and such. It's fun thus far since I've already broken two bolts. The PB Blaster and breaker bar are getting a work-out. It also bit me again - that's the fourth time this bumper has bitten me - deff. time to get it fixed. I need to find a chroming place nearby to redo the bumper, it's peeling and extremely rusty.

Anybody recommend a place near North NJ?

Good luck finding a good plater for your bumper. Just a word of advise. Make sure the shop you pick will chrome your bumper and not switch it out with another.
I just had that happen to me after driving 1000 miles (500 miles round trip) from the closest chrome shop from where I live. They gave me a bumper that had been repaired ( a section of 5"x 10") was welded into the bumper and also there was 4 holes that mounts the bumperettes that where welded up. When I contacted them regarding the issue they found my original bumper, they plated it and its being shipped as we speak. Shipping is on them. Told them I would not drive another 500 miles round trip to pick up my bumper. I will receive the bumper on Monday so I will verify that it is my bumper. The bumper I gave them was pristine never been hit or damaged.

Post up guys!

Yes, they are. I ordered them overnight delivery cause they were Raybestos, I figured they would be good...WRONG ! Cheap *** Chinese junk, but will do the job. I could have got original looking quality ones from " Inline tube" but they are expensive and can't be seen ....................MO

today off the rotisserie and on 4 peg legs for the first time in too many years!
had to modify and shim out my dollys as they were made for a different car

this thing used to be a completely rusted out turd
and i'm not exaggerating
we have been beating on this pig for years
and we parted 4 cars for it (not that what we parted out was great by any strech
but we made use of what was good on them)
it is much easier to list what was left on the car, then what was replaced
now its a replica i guess but its a pretty good looking one at that
underside has been painted to mimic dip primer and then its been all taped off
now its time to prime, sand and block sand some more
finish up some seam sealer
weld on the floor wire covers (still looking for pass side)
then to bolt the deck lid, doors and fenders back on and line them all up
then take it back apart and start blowing color on this pig.

Got my UCA back on and it passes that drive test!
Ever so slightly tighter steering and wheel is more centered.

Here are the press blocks and the mod I did so it would clear the stamping and still get good contact on the flat surface. This is the part that I couldn't find documentation for...anywhere.

Had to use a C clamp to get the threaded end far enough into the socket to start the nut. In over 30 years I've NEVER had to use the washer, but today I did.

Wheel is now nearly vertical!

Tip- use a nail to turn the BJ so the cotter pin hole is front to rear. MUCH easier to deal with the pin later.

...and I've been busting my *** repairing, cleaning, moving and organizing things into my new shop area.

Staring to look like a real shop...and no more walking in and out between 12x19.5' units to get tools and parts!
