What did you do to your Mopar today?

Just about dropped a 4WD 727 on me this afternoon. Pulling one out of a pickup I purchased not too long ago. Had everything disconnected but the 4 bolts holding the bell to the back of the block. With a stand under the engine oil pan and my transmission jack nearby I started removing the two side bolts. I always leave the top two for last once I have the transmission jack in place. Left side bolt came right out. The right side one, which also holds the dip stick, seemed to get difficult as I unscrewed it with a ratchet and long extension. That seemed odd.

Rather than just cranking it out, I moved the trouble light and discovered there were no top bolts holding the transmission. I was about a half turn away from the who thing falling out of the truck. That would not have been good. I'm glad to be typing about the experience right now!

I looked under the car cover to make sure the Charger was still there. Then, i went back inside to jerk off to Paige Spiranac.

Parked my Dakota for the rest of winter yesterday. I miss it already.

May have located my clutch's annoying clicking/snapping linkage issue.

Thanks dadsbee for the pointer in what to look for.
Apparently the z bar was "fixed/rewelded" at some point.

I put new engine mounts in my 70 Charger 500 yesterday, and verified (I've owned it for 14 days now) that it is, in fact, the original engine in the car. Yay, me!!

Reading back through the thread - how hard was it to drop the a/c-heater box? Trying to decide if I really want to tackle it on a car that won't go out in the winter anyway...'70 Charger, factory a/c. If I don't have to pull the whole dash, I may give it a shot...

I drove the hell out of it.
35 degrees kinda cloudy, humidity was prob 85% but roads clean and dry.
I pushed it a few times, love the opportunities.
Frankie..................

Finally replaced the original console plates. The originals were still decent, but 52 years old. What a difference! Can't wait to see it outside in the sun again.
