What did you do to your Mopar today?

I decided to do an under hood power wash. After working on the RR for a month to get it back in running condition, I have spent most of the day today fixing the d*** power washer instead of cleaning up the car. If it isn't one thing...

Cleaned up and touched up the front of my block. P2161720.jpg

Fixed my steering column coupler, replaced my idler arm, and then took her on her first voyage in about 20 years :)

Did some minor body work on the 70, need to blast and epoxy the engine bay this week. Ready for the 70 to be on the road

Did several things over the weekend-

Took some dented metal building doors to the scrapper.
Paid $900 to get them replaced, got $14.10 in scrap :(

...but did get to weigh the Satellite- after subtracting me, the toolbag, spare tire, and some other crap I had in it: 3763

A bit more than I was expecting, what with it being a stripper and all, but I have added some weight in the form of buckets, buddy seat, heavier mirrors, and thicker door panels. I can't wait to see what my 72 400 hideaway Charger weighs.

Went to the Sumter Co swap meet, and scored yet another Eddy 600 and performer intake.
It's the older casting without the core shift port allingment issues.

Paid $200. I know they can be found for about $75 each if you look harder, but I also got thrown in with the deal, that 71 only floor shift collar setup.

I put my green alt brackets and alt back on and did a mock up of some of my refinished parts.P2191723.jpgP2191728.jpg

Finished up some work ive been slowly doing and opened the doors and ran it for awhile, If it wasn't for the ice on our dirt road, I would have been tempted to at least take it around the block.. I do start to envy the ones living where they can take off any time, but spring is getting closer and then the Ram can get a rest and ill see if i can have a little more fun in the 73.

Still working on the shop----putting things away---finding parts for the Hemi that had been displaced from the move to the new shop---and of course, putting up all the signs that had been collected over the last 50 years. Next week the 62 Plymouth wagon and the Hemi Dart comes out again for prep for this years racing. See you all at the "Spring Nostalgia Nationals"

Wife bought me a Custom Autosound unit for VD (Valentine's Day). I installed it this morning. Playing a little "Heat of the Moment" at the time of the photo.
I rewired the AC a couple of weeks ago so that the slider switch drives relays. Now I have air and tunes.2-23-2013.jpg

Primered filler panel and hood latch support after I took them down to bare metal. Also cleaned up the hood release and handle.

under the dash i go--got a new bulkhead connector from evan's wiring-no more wiring problem--put the new idle arm on--now just bleed the brakes and let's ride

Ground and polished a couple more of the connecting rods in my COLD-azz garage. You know it's time to stop when you can't feel your hands or feet. One more to go;now if my blaster would stop packing up and actually freaking blast,I could do that and get them out for re-sizing this week. Oh,wait...the daughter needs more $$$...

I see Sebring Plus found the same thing I did- that the open ashtray is almost PERFECT for holding a smart phone MP3/GPS device!!

I think I will do a light mod to keep it from sliding side to side and falling foward (towards the driver) on mine.

This past week I've been upgrading the sound system-

I bought a cheap 2x 10" speaker box at a pawn shop for $25, fully expecting the speakers to be junk (they were), but you can't buy the box for $25! It turns out that box fits PERFECTLY between the jack hold downs and the package tray. Wedges right in and doesn't come out!

I then ordered some Goldwood 10" woofs and Tang Band soft dome tweets from PartsExpress.
It's been nearly 20 years since I built speakers from scratch, but I had a blast doing the reasearch and selecting the components.
Both drivers claim 2500 Hz, so that's where I crossed them. It's hard to find passive crossovers any more (not to mention 4 ohm 10's that aren't "subs"). I scored the crossovers (at 2500 Hz) on ebay four of them for less than $20 incl shippng.

I also built custom boxes for the tweeters and mounted them above the package tray. They're unfinished wood "gift boxes" from Michaels, with plastic electrical box blank covers cut to fit as lids. Couldn't ask for a better fit, and less than $2.50 each!

Here's a shot of the speakers that came out, and the ones that went in.

I'm very happy with the sound. I wanted someting more defined and punchier than a 6x9 , with room to grow power wise.

It sounds pretty good from my cheap $30 swap meet Dual head unit at 15-30 watts, but the speakers are rated 150-300, so adding an apprpriate amp could thoretically make them twice as loud!

Ha. That came with the car. It holds air and has tread... ...plus it looks oh so groovy (possble intentional pun). I added some all thread to the hold down, and it now holds in the speaker box!

I only needed to drill 2 holes for the entire setup. 1 each in the braces behind the seat to hold the hurricane ties I used to fold behind the seat overlap and mount the tweeter boxes. There were already holes under the dash from the original owner's 23 ch CB!

On my drive today, it did sound pretty boomy now that the rear seat is in place.

I may "tune" the box higher by covering over the port. That should move the sound more towards 60 Hz than 40.

I like a solid 60 Hz snare hit. It's "tuned" for music like Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, etc and does a good job with Pink Floyd Judas Priest, Ac/Dc, etc. I've heard "Super Freak" three times on the radio this weekend, and that sound good, too.

Had a productive week working on getting the garage set up so I can put everything away.Picked up my valve covers from my friends shop,he did some modifications to the covers and cut holes for the Moroso breathers.I will repolish them tomorrow and install them. Also Dixon came and re-certed the car for 8.50,s.That was a fast 3 years!!

Continued building the air dam for the front of the '67 Charger. Silver State is in 2 1/2 months and I need to get the front end to quit floating at 140+. I still need to add 2° more caster to the front and swap the 2.76's back in after changing the open carrier out for a new one. I'll post pics of the dam when I get a little farther along.
