What did you do to your Mopar today?

Decided to install my new oil pick up tub and button up the bottom end. But low and behold my pickup tube is the wrong size. Long story for another day. So I then decided to degree in the new cam, well that took way longer than I thought, but it is done and the new timing chain and cover are on the engine. Now I got to wait for another oil pick up to be delivered.

Oh I forgot, painted the water pump, housing and water neck. Only waiting on the oil pickup and then I can complete the engine rebuild and put back in my car. It is 62 degrees today, and looking to be in the high 70's by mid week. Wish I was done so I could drive it.

New plugs and wires, removed the header wrap that came on the car and started the PIA process of replacing a leaking passenger side header gasket.

Nothing i didn't have to it's a mopar, worked on a buddys 70 mach 1 doing a brake job!

Removed the Ralleye instrument cluster. The instrument lights are dim, and the dimmer switch isn't totally working, so I thought I'd clean some connections and grounds, check the bulbs. Cleaned up the rheostat dimmer switch with some electronic cleaner. Pondered changing over to LED's. Put it all back together and there wasn't a bit of difference. Oh, well, now I know how to do that...

Didn't do anything today but yesterday I put the TC and transmission in. Got everything almost bolted in except for the last 2 TC bolts but can't spin the motor over now to get them where I can put them in.

Just dropped off my 440 block to get cleaned and to get new cam bearings installed. Can't wait to pick it up and start assembling it.

Started her up,warmed her up,and revved her up(she likes that!). The old oil is draining as I type...Then on to figuring out why my voltage is still a bit lower than I'd like;it's around 11 volts while running, with a fully charged battery. Belt is tight, alternator is new last fall;Hmmm...I see questions in the tech section soon.

Man;am I ever ready to get out and drive. It's almost 60 degrees today in Da Mitten, but plenty of melting snow has the roads quite wet. Also, the crater fillers(Road Commission) haven't been around yet. There's some NASTY ones on my road that I'd rather not hit.

Al-K, Probably just the regulator or dirty terminals or bad ground somewhere or bulkhead connector dirty/corroded/rusty or bad connection on the amp meter etc.

Budnicks;put a new regulator and ballast resistor on last fall. Ran an extra ground from the battery to the inner fender,AND one from the battery to the firewall under the regulator. I'm seriously grounded! The electric choke does seem to be the problem-thought it was-so I'm kind of baffled. Thought I had that issue dealt with last year. Just went out and fired it up,pulled the wire off the choke and got 12 volts-would still like to see a bit more. I'm going to check tomorrow on a new choke(I should put my 750 back on and convert it to a manual choke) and see what that does. If I can,I'm also going to get a more powerful alternator and try that. All connections are new and clean. I don't want to start pulling what's left of my hair out. Lotta bloody good that would do-though some chicks dig bald guys...

Fabbed up some frame connectors and got those welded in.Unbelievable how those connectors change things on how the doors close.Had to play with a floor jack some to find the sweet spot before welding.Just finished up replaciing a dripping pinon seal.

I worked on my headliner today.check out my photo gallery. gotta work on a mopar every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I juat got my dana 60 set up and ready for axles. Motor and trans ready to go in once it rolls

Put 6-cylinder torsion bars in my '66 - getting ready for MATS!

Mocking up the Hurst Quarter stick and the carpet just arrived via UPS!

I've got a busy week ahead of me!

Buttoned up a few loose ends, just have to hook up ps and fuel lines fill her with coolant and she'll be ready to start. :headbang: P3151778.jpgP3151779.jpg

I will give a progress report on Cr8crshr's Satellite. We bypassed the Heater core as it seems to be full of Nevada clay dust. Seems like everytime we flush the radaiator it looks like rust, besides I think it sprung a leak as we had H2O on the paas side carpet. We also backed the lash/preload 3/4 of a turn and boy did that really changed things for the better. Much better throttle response, idle quality, knocking we couldn't figure out where from. The only knock we have now is in the tranny which we can clearly ponit our finger at it and agree. It slips real bad in D with no real bump of engagement, but R is fine, speedo's dead also. So he's looking at trannys now. We are going to do final tune/dail in on Sun. If it weren't for the tranny now, the car WANTS to go for a drive, it's going to be fun!:blob1::upside down:

just curious, to cr8crshr/Tuck or 69a100, does it have the throttle pressure valve hooked up to the properly adjusted linkage, at the carburetor ?? unless it has a manual valve body in that transmission, it will fry the trans quicker then stink covers on ****...

lovely day went for a tour of the neighborhood with all the typical thumbs up from everyone... tinkered with a few little things, I need to get motivated really soon, install a few parts I have already, before I get stuck doing nothing but house stuff yet again, instead of spending the money on my car this year...LOL...
