What did you do to your Mopar today?

Yup, I spent the better part of Sunday, moving parts, and filling shelves in another location, so I could have more room in the bay that the car is in, for newly removed parts.

I also bundled trim, and did some recon work to find spot welds that need drilled out.

Didn't actually remove ANY parts :(

I've decided to keep what I want, and part the 74.

The 73 Charger is probably not too far behind, but I'd sure like to find a home for the sweet running, built 318 that came with it.

Anybody got a clean body that needs a motor?

Filled up the gas tank and went for my 6-monthly safety inspection. My mechanic is a real Bow-Tie-Guy....but you should have seen his face when he was shifting the car around today :headbang: I told him he looks just right sitting there in that seat :3gears:
Passed with flying colours - well, a small green & white sticker at least. He had a 69 Charger up on the hoist for some rust repairs - just arrived in from Australia. Mr Speedfreak would love it (not) painted up bright orange .... I smell some decals soon.

On the way home gave the ole GTX a good run up the highways, and handed out a few lessons in acceleration :) Got a thumbs-up from a local drunk staggering down the road...usual stuff.

Taking my truck there tomorrow for it's checkup. I can smell the burning rubber now.....

We didn't do anything on the Charger last weekend because the Mazda we use to get to it overheated. Thermostat was the problem and so too was the Kawasaki that we needed to get a new thermostat. Fixed the Kawi (drained battery and wet pugs ... no big deal), got the part installed but no time left for the B Body. Decided to fix another problem on another car of mine (77 bmw 320 m20) ... fuel delivery resolved and went for a spin after 4 years of sitting. trained my nephew Kurt hoe to drive it (4 spd.). In all can't complain - I have never in my gearhead life had three problems at once and fixed them all without delay. Great weekend (top 10)

"and ran some gas out on purpose." that sounds very selfish ron. lol good for you buddy. hope it was early 70's stuff.

drove the coronet down to the local watering hole for the weekly 50-50 draw and took a couple of spins around town. would of went over to the next town for a spin but i didn't win the draw and i was low on gas. lol

Sorry Rick, ive been real selfish here in the evenings lately! Ba ha ha..

drove her all day, ran great except the car shakes violently going over 60, which is no fun. any idea what the problem is? entire car has been aligned and the wheel bearings were just done. i'm thinking one of my wheels is bent, although i really really hope not.

You might just have flat spots on the tires if the car has been sitting for a while....just cruise up the highway for a few miles when the weather is warm. I was told you can temporarily over-inflate tires to help overcome this problem. Just remember to drop the pressure again when you are finished.

I put the top down and drove that sumbitch for a while after work!

Assuming your tires are balanced, if it shakes just at high speeds, check your u-joints. Had u-joints go bad on my 74 Duster when I was younger and shook like crap over 50. Pretty easy and cheap to replace those.

I FOUND MY CHARGING SYSTEM ISSUE AND BLOODY FIXED IT!!!!!

It was so effing simple, but it was one of those things that wasn't readily apparent. I'm going to get pics and add a description so as to help someone else.

cleaned the housing.
installed third into housing.
assembled spring assemblys onto housing.new mopar perf xhd,new ubolts, referbed lower shock mounts.
instaled new rear shocks.
still waiting to finish under coating so rear not in car yet.
i should put up a project thread with pics on this car, turning out nice.

went to a mopar show, and my hurst shifter cable melted along the ride. needless to say i am pissed. now i need to get exhaust wrap for the headers and a new friggen cable because hurst's warranty wont cover it.

Or get some silicon rubber tubing to slip over the shifter cable and secure in place with safety wire. It works good on my speedo cable and starter motor cable.

My "did today" wasn't much and it was yesterday. Double checked my aftermarket tach with a laser tach. It looked like it was dead on. That sucks because it means my 727 really is shifting at too low rpm.

Bought parts for the Coronet. New shocks (all four) Addco 7/8 Rear anti sway bar and new wheels which should be here next week. Then the work begins.....

Finally finished up installing the new Ron Francis wiring harness. Last night was all of the little stuff, headlight/tailight grounds, gas tank sender, starter, battery cables, and few other odds n ends. My next post should be "fired her up for the first time in two years." Gotta go buy a battery first.

Got my new Fiberglass Front/Rear Bumpers for my 68 RR affectionately know as "the B_I_T_C_H", I'm getting ready to clean them up, straighten out the extremely rough cuts :angryfire: , on the edges, drill for the blinkers & bolt holes & prep for Chrome paint & then I will use translucent Black over that, for my bumper treatments... I thought it may look pretty cool with the black accents, I will have on the car, an A12 lift off hood & black on the lower section, below the belt/body line, down the sides of the car.... I think I also might glass in some 1/8"x 2"x 4ft pieces of aluminum on the back sides so the will be a little stiffer, better for where the bolts hold them down & not vibrate while driving @ speeds, they only weight 4#'s each, but I'm pleasantly surprised on actually how good the finished gel coated surfaces look, should be pretty easy to prep, I hope...LOL... Unlimited Fiberglass Products PL-104ba & PL-111a $129.oo each not the best quality probably but fit my budget & I'll improve on them anyway... wish me luck...LOL...

Gave her a dual exhaust. Breathing more freely now... :)

Finally found and purchased the correct bench seat for my car. Thanks to GTSuperbee for the good price and the effort to ship.:eek:ccasion14:

Now to wait for Dante to get the seat covers...
