1996 Buell S2T Thunderbolt Touring. One of 298 built. Sitting for the last 10 years, not one mile on it in that time.

Replaced the carb with one of my spares, jetted for this bike. Fresh plugs, battery, and she fired right up. Even on 10 year old varnis...er, gasoline.

I'd serviced it 10 years ago (how I know it hadn't gone a mile since). Checked my adjustments. Rebuilt both brakes and both master cylinders. Installed upgrades from an identical bike I wrecked (damn deer) 4 years ago - heated clothing pigtail, HID headlight, LED taillight with brake light flashers, new turn signals, LED voltmeter, battery tender harness, Buell factory race ignition box (different advance curve, higher rev limit), additional saddlebag mounts for more support, storage tubes under the bags for med supplies and a spare fuel bottle - pressure washed everything with the bodywork off, set tire pressures on the zero mile tires...and went for a spin.

IMG_20221022_173501136~2.jpg

I had forgotten just how GOOD these motorcycles are. Stable, smooth, intuitive...they do what you want almost before you know you want to do it. 50 miles in a blink. Added 3 gal of new 93 to the tank to help that varnish burn a little better, sun went down on the way home, got home and adjusted the headlight and driving lights...looking forward to tomorrow's commute!

Sweet scoot, congrats!
At 6'4" I feel more than a little cramped up, but they were always a definite contender for Road King stablemate. That or a Lightning.
It is one of the only things that makes me wish I was shorter.
Stay safe!

I'm also 6'4"...34" inseam. I've ridden my old S2 from MD to FL and also from MD to WI. They're super spacious. Aggressive riding posture...but I'm not sitting on my heels. The pegs are nice and low.

I also have a 98 White Lightning, an 06 Ulysses (my go-to, swiss army bike - it does it all), and an 09 1125CR (Satan on wheels - 370 lbs and dynoed 152hp at the rear wheel bone stock). And a 98 S3 Defender police bike (one of 13 built) project.

I used to work for them...I'm a bit of a hoarder.

Gave the shop a blow job on friday.....dang leaves pile up on windy days and it's been too warm to shut the doors. Cleaned up the carport on Sunday and blew it off too so I could put my diesel pickup in it and swap out the fuel filter. Don't remember it being such a pita snaking it out of it's place. Must have something to do with age? Then cleaned up the area where the pickup sleeps before driving it around a bit and then sticking it back to bed.

I remember the first time I rode a good handling bike. This was in the mid 70's and most stuff out there was pretty old tech junk and I'm sure this bike doesn't hold a candle to the newer stuff. The bike had a Rickman frame with a modified 750 4 Honda engine but don't know the particulars on the suspension etc. but remember the faster it was rode into a turn the better it felt. My 71 350SL actually handled better at low speeds though lol. Haven't been on anything new in a group of time now.....:(

Loaded up some white pine logs for one of my Wife's friends husband so he can play with his new saw mill. I can't be bothered with Pine, with a forest full of Oak and Maple behind the house. Told me he was bringing a trailer...lol

Never burned pine in my fireplace but did have some pine heart wood that was full of sap as a starter. Small piece of that would burn for a good while and would get things going good. Other than that, used to pour wax over dryer lint that was in paper egg cartons, let it set and that would get things started good too. One egg 'hole' was all that was needed. And that's some trailer he brought LOL

Helped neighbor take down round pen for her horses. Went back a couple hours later after she had crushed stone delivered, and spread it out with my tractor. Didn't finish due to inspection appointment for the mopar. I will finish in the morning.

Finished splitting most of the chunks of locust I picked up a month ago, and tarped it up...

Apparently the only vehicle I'm allowed to buy this Fall. Another 5 hour each way + load time affair to fetch it, but well worth it.

3 year old Lastec 4520 Articulator 10 foot zero turn. Wife's cousin sold his golf course and haggled a great lease buy out for me on this machine, with only 429 hours on it. Cuts 9 acres an hour.

Tore all the covers off my new toy to check all the belts (I got all new ones as spares with the machine) and a blade check. Good thing I got the old hoe running so I could lift it up. Found a bad tensioner pulley bearing. Caught it just in time as another hour or so and I'd need more than a $10 bearing.

45HP x 4 cylinder turbo Kubota engine. Gotta be the smallest turbo i've ever seen.

Man, looks like something that could land on the moon!! And I used to think I was doing pretty good mowing an acre in 45 minutes with my Gravely and 50" deck.....

Did I mention I finally changed the fuel filter on my diesel? Well, I did. Got my maintenance book out and the filter only had 10K miles on it and it looked pretty good but....there was no date listed on when that happened but the oldest date listed when the truck had 134k on it was in 09 for an oil/filter change so I'm thinking the filter was done in around 2005? Most recent oil/filter change was 3/14 when the truck had 137k on it and it has 140k now. Yeah, I don't drive it much and about to change the oil in it. The thing had 116k when I got it back around late 2001 or so and was usually used to tow stuff with an occasional back and forth to work to exercise it.

Yesterday I took my time learning the new machine and cut the entire runway and fuel tank area at about half speed... 5 acres..... in 55 minutes!! Figure that I can do it in 30 minutes if I try. In the past the tractor and flail mower was a good 3 hours and lately with it broke it was taking 5+ hours 42" at a time with the Kubota riding mower.

The articulating deck is simply amazing for shape following on this thing.

I then spent about 2 hours cutting all of our yard grass and mulching ALL of the leaves into dust. About 3 hours total and the entire grass and leaves were taken care of. The leaves alone with a walk behind blower in the past was a 3 day job. All thoughts of what this mower cost us has left my mind... now why the hell didn't I buy one of these 25 years ago??!!

Trailered a 54 IH R110 p/u from Sac to Meridian, ID for a good friend of mine. He bought the truck two weeks ago while here visiting and had no way to get it back so I offered to tow it. Left Thursday and came back yesterday. While the wife and I were there I bought his 2020 Avalon Hybrid Limited. We needed a new daily driver and the trailer was going to be empty going home anyway...
