What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

I've had three pools in my life and the last having three water features and a ton of pumping and concrete around it. I always took care of my own pools, till the last one with all the added plumbing and concrete. His contract read, if he winterized it he was responsible for any problems as far as leaks and repairs were on him. 200 bucks and the problem became his. He also installed the pool. Let him pay for 16 thousand dollars in concrete when things go bad. Pools are great till they're not.
I said I'd never own one!.. as that is how I paid my way through University, installing pools all summer for 4 years. Add three kids and that idea went out the window fast! Our own pool is now 24 years old and I've swam in it 4 times, but the kids had lots of fun and parties we know and don't know about I'm sure. Not a single leak, might need a liner in about 5 years but hope I'm not here to see it or it will be 6 triaxles of fill instead! Daughters pool is a neglected thing she inherited when she bought the house. While I fixed the light leak in the light, then the air/water leak at the skimmer and then around the stair liner retention strip and slowed things down that wasn't the real issue. By fluke she found a cut in the liner as it was making a sucking sound one night when she came home from work and could barely see it like lips fluttering since the water had cleaned up a bit more. It would leak until the ground was saturated, we'd think it had stopped leaking and then suddenly go down again. I drained the pool down and patched the liner, all good now!

I had one leak, cut patch and coated patch with JB Weld, swam down and pressed it on and rolled it out, done, never leaked again. Pool guy said that's what he uses all the time.

30+ year old pool... On the second liner now... Vacuumed it yesterday, but need a new hose now. The vacuum hose leaks, but no leaks in the liner yet!

Mine's a bit worn after leaving the kreepy crawly in it 24/7 for almost 20 years, but pretty sure it'll go another 5 years or more or I'm filling the hole! 42 x 22 with a 12 x 10 L. Installed by myself in 1996

I feel the same way. The pool came with the house and it was a learning experience not having one before. There is only two of us, it was only used maybe 5 times last year and a little more this year. I keep telling my wife if no one is going to use it I may as well fill it in, it will be easier to look after.

The condo community we moved to has two pools, a lap pool and a swimming pool. The lap pool is in the background. No more dealing with a pool for me. Never more than 8 people during the week and 15 to 20 on the weekend. That's my wife in the picture in "her pool"..... LOL

This one. You know its hot when the Schnauzer jumps in. My son is off to Army boot camp so it doesn't get much use.
I get in it a couple of times a year.

3 weeks out of back surgery, walk the property and look at everything that needs done that I can't do then go drink some Captain Morgan to cheer up:thumbsup:.

If I had a pool, I'd use it.....a lot. Nothing better than working on something and being hot then say screw it and jump in. The X and the kids pestered me for years saying "we'll take care of it" and well, I knew better because of everything else they said that with didn't get taken care of by them. Several years ago I bought a 'red neck' pool which was a 100 gallon Rubber Maid stock tank and it was ok enough for those cool down times but the X hated it. She figured I'd drink too much and drown in it. Well hell, so what "isn't that what you want" lol so got rid of it to appease her but thinking about buying another :D

Went to the dentist. All good:thumbsup:... especially the hygienist.

Edit!
Dang, I almost forgot. She and her sisters all have a Super Bee tattoo on their wrist. They did this in honor of their grandfather (R.I.P.) who had a Super Bee!

and drinking beer. Saw my new neighbor up on a tall (14'?) step ladder standing on the very top of it trying to hang a swing in a tree. Told him he could borrow my 28' extension ladder and he declined....at first. About 10 minutes later he came asking for it lol. Other than that, I washed my 'new' 96 Dakota and have been cleaning up the shop.....and drinking beer :D
I picked about 100 ears of sweet corn from my garden.

Just a few hours ago, a new red neck pool was ordered!! :D

the joys of owning a pool gotta love :thumbsup:

Fixed my neighbors Rinker boat in 1 hour after the marina shop had it for 3 months and charged 1500.00. Problem is I may now own all repairs from now on out since I helped him and it will be my fault.
