What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Had to check on my flooring crew.

This was my grandfather’s pipe. The piece between the bit and stem was badly deteriorated so I fashioned a new piece out of plastic tube and braided cotton sleeve which we tea dyed to get the desired colour.

Took a break from the engine stand this afternoon to try out the new bow I picked up a few weeks back. (Sanlida Dragon X8 with stock kit arrows)
I've had this bow out in my shop tuning it up with laser levels, calibrated weight scales, bench presses and all kinds of what not. I finally took it out in the side yard today and set off a few arrows.
The last time I shot a bow they were made of Wood or Fiberglass, ALL arrows were made of wood, and sighting was done off the top of your knuckle. Things have apparently changed a bit since then. It's just a bow for gods sake, not a long range target rifle. Non-the-less, I had a good time shooting off a few arrows today! It's been a long time! It's currently pulling a little left at 20 yards, so I'll have to make a few adjustments to the arrow rest.

Yesterday I got stuck into building a new false wall at home. Previously demolished half my lounge room to cut the fireplace hearth out to gain a bit more real estate. Now the rebuilding has started. Carefully removed a door header to make it slightly wider, and now the remainder can be framed out today.

It is a project that I have wanted done for some years now, but never really had the time or ability to get it done. Gave myself a deadline for Friday so the A/C can get pre-piped etc....and a finish deadline of Mother's Day.

Chimney is all tiled up now - got rid of the bricks that matched the exterior of the house....as nice as they are, we needed a change. Fake-log electric heater going into the fire opening, and the chimney will be capped with a new piece I had made last week.

The best part is that nobody has fallen off a ladder doing this work....so far. :)

Amusing story - I had a guy from a local specialist food shop personally deliver a carton of Cannoli shells the day I had this all set out with the plastic on the floor. He came down the driveway and looked through the sliding door - and said "Cannoli shells" .

As he looked in the room, I can only imagine what he must have thought when he saw the plastic sheeting.:elmer::elmer:

A bit like this part in Lethal Weapon...

Drove to Athens Tennessee yesterday with trailer in tow to look at and maybe buy a 10,000 mile 76 Cordoba. Well it was not a 10,000 mile car. Trailer brakes locked up on me about a half mile after leaving the dealer that had the car. Had to do a sharp U-turn to get out of there and it pulled the emergency pin out just enough to last a half mile before letting loose. Was doing about 45 and bang the wheels locked up. Of course thoughts were something broke. Found the wire and pin still intact and pushed it back into the switch and they released. This morning heading out the truck kept bitching about the trailer brakes being disconnected "check wiring" Lights were fine. Was worried they would lock up on me doing 70 on the highway. Finally hit a rest stop and messed with the connector and they stopped bitching. Just got back home a couple hours ago. Looks like I have some trailer work to do...

Mocked up the hydro boost and decided to paint the adapter plate semi-gloss black.

Then I worked on the ‘58 for a couple hours.

Well, was over the Mather VA hospital this morning for the skin doc, to do a "scrape and burn" on a skin cancer area on my nose.
Got that one taken care of, and they did a biopsy on another spot on my right hand.
And also need another specialist, skin doctor wise, to look at a hard lump type of pimple that's shown up on the the right thumb, where the thumb meets the main portion of my hand.
Seems I'm keeping them busy, with some more still to be done.
Oh well, what can ya do?

I changed the rear brakes on my wife’s daughter’s car. Bought one of those kits that rotates the piston as it compressed it. It worked really well. Harbour Freight for the win.
