What Do You Do With Car Show Flyers?

Just wondering because we normally just throw em out. We got at least 5 at a cruise night yesterday, and one was a double of the one I already threw out. I understand that the organizers want to promote their show, and want us to go to them but I find it kind of annoying. Especially when I have a piece of advertising for the car on the seat and the flyer is right on top of it. Sometimes we would think about going to a show on one of the flyers, but most of the time we don’t. Not sure if this is the right section to put this in, but what do you do.

I keep the windows up and my car locked when at shows or cruises. Keeps the flyer count down.

It pisses me off when I come back to my car and find a handful of car show flyers scattered on the front seats. By default, they go into the nearest trash can.

I almost came to blows one day when I politely asked a kid not to put one in my car at the Street Machine Nats. He must have complained to his dad who came back to confront me. His reaction was completely disproportionate when he threatened me and cussed me out. My BIL wisely intervened so the guy wouldn’t get his *** beat in front of his kid…

I don't mind them. I just stick them to my steel cabinets in the garage with magnets as reminders of when the upcoming shows will be and where they are located. As mentioned above. It's just sheets of paper.

I literally told the kid please don’t put that in my car. I don’t know what he said to his dad but the guy went off on me. It was really bizarre, he must have had some serious anger issues to threaten me over a piece of paper.

I usually take a look to see if they are fund raisers for anything that sounds like a good cause.
For me those are the best events where people's interest and appreciation for cars can benefit others.

I don't mind if they set flyers in the car, fine with me.

When they drop them on my front seat they slide off and end up on the back floor. There's a gap between the bottom and the back of the seat. I'll just throw the rear floor mat on top of them before I leave and look at them when I get home.

Spot on ! Around here, there are shows that benefit charities and local LE/FD/ES organizations. And then, there are the sheisters that bilk and pocket the money, which seems to be more common in these parts. Always ask what the proceeds are for, and what % !!! Beware of events that purport to benefit a cause, yet only a portion actually arrives at said organizations, after the crooks take their cut.

And then, there are the sheisters that bilk and pocket the money, which seems to be more common in these parts. Always ask what the proceeds are for, and what % !!! Beware of events that purport to benefit a cause, yet only a portion actually arrives at said organizations, after the crooks take their cut.

Being a founding member of a carclub for 30 years, and a carclub that donates to multiple charities, I take offence at the term crooks. First hosting events are expensive, and not all the money from an event can be donated. What percent goes to charity depends a lot on the success of the event. So to do an event you pay for advertising, stuff like port-potties, city permits, insurance, Trophies are a HUGE expense. And if it rains sometimes we can go in the hole very easy. A lot of businesses will no longer donate unless you have legal standing as a not for profit, so we pay a lawyer for yearly filings and taxes. So trust me the clubs putting on these events don't just show up and rake in money.
I see from the comments you guys don't like flyers, then what is your preferred method of finding out about events? We use flyers, internet, and radio.

So just as an example what does our club donate to? a yearly scholarship for graduating seniors, shop with a cop, local food bank, honorflight for sending veterans to DC. and usually several people in need due to medical bills.

In my area, Mel's Car Shows has created a business model which seems to address these issues well. Mel is actually a woman whose dad is a life long car enthusiast, and she grew up sharing his interest. She is also a marketing professional. She represents numerous local fire companies who used to put on their own events. The shows are incredibly well run, and the money goes where it's supposed to. She initially got involved in car shows to raise money for charities, then grew the operation. Her primary marketing tool is the internet, but I started going to her events from word of mouth.

Who's talking about YOU ? What do you know about the events ( READ ) > in my area. I'm well involved in the car show community, and know a lot of people, and YES... some of them are crooks !! I know all there is to know about the costs of running events, you're not telling me nothing I haven't known for years. My organization supports autism charities, local LE, St. Judes, etc, etc.... and ALL monies above costs .... ALL monies... are donated. This can't be said about quite a few sheisters around here. If you think everyone running these shows are legit... you are very naive. ( and by the way.. I was VERY naive about all this until a few years ago, when my eyes were opened. )

Unfortunately everything today is disposable and I don't think will ever be collectible There's just no magic left in the culture and the stuff being created today lacks artistic effort because it's so easy to crank out using a computer. But if you held on to vintage stuff from "the day" I bet they'd make great decorative items now. I have a trove of very old punk rock show flyers from the cut and paste era, and occasionally original art, that just get cooler and cooler as the new stuff gets lamer and lamer. Which of course I keep in storage and never look at. I cannot imagine how cool some of your old drag race posters or other car related events would be if they had survived from the 60-70s. From the perspective of collectibles paper items are the rarest to find in decent shape.
