What was your first Mopar and do you still own any of it?

44 yrs. ago I bought a 63 belvedere 4 dr. for $15.00 after that a 67 barracuda notch back, 71 val., 70 charger, 65 satellite, 70 challenger, 66 dodge 200 pick up with a 315 hemi. 48 dodge 4 dr. custom sedan. then the big D word. now I'm restoring another 65 satellite and I'm keeping this one. it's MOPAR or no car!!

1968 Road Runner bought in 1982 and I still own it.

1st truck was a 74 gmc, bought it in 76 my junior year. Paid 2000 for it, I put 500 down and the payment was 60.36 a month. Had a 250 six with a 3 on the tree. Pulled it and dropped a 350 and put a floor shifter with the 3 speed. Started rusting and traded a friend of my dad's work to get it painted. Put mustang buckets in it,custom console, upper and lower. I started the truck trend in our school. Traded it in 78 for my first new D150 with a 400. I started customizing it right away. Mustang buckets(again) with swivel pedestals out of a Buick. Diamond pleated headliner, consoles, stereo w/equalizer,pinstriped etc.. After the warranty I started on the engine. That truck surprised a lot of Cars, the biggest problem was traction, but if I eased into it. Ahhh memories take care. I still have the grill and various parts and the title

68 dodge dart 2 door post with /6 and 3 on the tree, found that hood from a 69 in a junk yard for $75.00.I always wanted to put a 340 in it but then got married and sold it for $400.00 in 92,last time I saw it it was sublime green with a lift off hood, the guy moved to Fla and i heard he committed suicide.

Mine was a b5 blue 71 340 3 speed duster that I bought in 79 with all my lawn mowing money. I saved for that car from the age of 8 till I was 16 . Traded it for a 68 charger when I was 17

My first was a 1974 Roadrunner that I traded in a 66 bel air plus $400 to a used car dealer in '79. It had the 360-4bbl slapstick auto. Was blue w/black stripe and black interior. Served as a local cop car in Washington, Iowa before I bought it. Unfortunately in a years time between 1984 and 1985 it got into 4 different accidents (only 1 of them was my fault). The last one totaled it out for good. Still have a headlight bezel from the car. Have never seen another one like it. If I could find one like it again, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

My first car was a 4 door '68 Chrysler New Yorker. Dark blue with a white full vinyl top, and a LOT of chrome. It had a 440 TNT engine in it with dual exhaust. The original owner was the City of Orlando chief of Police. It had power everything, must have weighed well over 4,500 pounds.

Built like a tank. I had an accident with it one time and rear ended my buddies 78 Ford F-150 truck. The impact drove the rear bumper up under the bed of his truck. It flattened out the chrome on the leading edge of the driver side front fender, and "straightened " out the front leading edge of the hood. (it no longer had a slight V shape on the leading edge)

I went through 3 speedometer cables, a drive shaft, an alternator belt that "somehow" tossed, and "numerous" rear tires................... (sorry Dad)

I didn't have the quickest car in High School. But I had the FASTEST !!!!!! There is a difference between acceleration and top speed. I would challenge guys with SS Chevelles, Mach 1 Mustangs, Corvettes, and even Chargers / Challengers to have a go at it from a 30 MPH roll. They would pull slightly ahead at first, but then I would catch up to them and pass them like they were in reverse.

Times were different back then...................... I learned about working on cars and how little tricks would make a big difference.

I discovered that an alternator with a larger pulley didn't toss belts as easy at a High RPM, as does one with a small pulley. (thanks Dad)
But there was a trade off with charging at idle, especially in a car with power everything.

I found out that it's not good to have the rear wheels spinning in the dirt and then hitting the pavement with the GO pedal on the floor. (especially in a car that was SO heavy the driveshaft and floor pan didn't like that too much)

I still have the engine and 8 3/4 rear end.

I got the fever after hearing one run at a local car show. Started looking and found a 69 Bee that was a good looking 10 ft car, bought it and kept it about 2 years before selling in 2007. It received a lot of attention because of the lift off hood and six pack. It was in the Feb 07 Mopar Muscle of Pentastars.

My first Mopar was a 318 auto 74 Dodge Challenger, blue, bought it in 1981 for $325, drove it home and used it as a daily driver till I joined the Army, wish I never sold it, don't have anything from it.

looked exactly like this, with a white interior

Mine was a 67 valiant 100 /6 auto I got when I was 13. I put a 383 in it. Moved the springs inboard. 8 3/4 with 3.55. Put new interior in and painted it. I never got it legal to drive cause my dad kept saying it wasn't road worthy. He just didn't want me to drive it. I traded for a 72 scamp with a 340. I saw my valiant a few years back in a body shop and tried to buy it. He wanted $8000. No motor trans or interior. What an idiot.

I only have the side glass and a valance left of my first mopar, but with this next car I will no longer be selling my projects as I want something to really have fun with, not something that I work on then sell

74 duster tan with brown stripes, dart hood scoops and a snake skin roof. Wish i still had that one.

My first was 1970 Road Runner 440 6 barrel, 4 speed car. I bought it in 1979 when I was 16 for $650. Got in bunch of trouble and had to sell it in 1981. It was stolen after that and totaled. I went to see it at the impound yard and ended up getting the Road Runner head button out of the steering wheel that I still have.
