F-22 update:
Written by: Dario Leone, The Aviationist

On Mar. 1, 2016 the 90th Fighter Squadron (FS) belonging to the 3rd Wing stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska officially became the first combat-operational Raptor unit to equip an F-22 with the AIM-9X Sidewinder.According to Chief Master Sgt. Chuck Jenkins, 3rd Wing Weapons Manager, the AIM-9X will increase the already outstanding Raptor’s combat capabilities. “This has been in the inventory for the Air Force and Navy for some years; it’s nothing new to the military, but to put it on the Ferrari of aircraft – the F-22, the most advanced aircraft we have – it gives the pilots more maneuverability, larger range, and it’s a much faster missile” he said.

America’s Air Supremacy Is Fading Fast
The National Interest Thu, Mar 10 12:00 AM PST .

American air supremacy is in a bear market of long-term decline with no end in sight. The RAND Corporation recently determined: “continuous improvements to Chinese air capabilities make it increasingly difficult for the United States to achieve air superiority within a politically and operationally effective time frame. . . .” These improvements are part of the reason the Center for Strategic and International Studies considers that: “ at the current rate of U.S. capability development, the balance of military power in the [Asia-Pacific] region is shifting against the United States.” Worse, with Russia resurgent, American air supremacy is also declining in Europe.

The Japanese have been wanting to update their airforce and chose F-22s, but due to security regulations those planes can't be exported there. So they decided to build their own stealth plane. The Mitsubishi Shinshin X-2 prototype........

At this point in the thread this clip seems appropriate and related.

Baddass! Katherine, ooh babee, i love Her.....the Doug! Love this movie. The modded T - 6's are Tora, Tora,Tora birds. When Tora was being made, several of the convertedNorth American birds stopped thru Tucson International, where the Duval hangar was, had L-18 modded lodestar(Gulf Star..one of 3 converted for Gulf Oil in fifties, very similar to Learstar, except Wright conversions, and not the range of the Lear) & a Twin Bonanza w air stair door. The T-6's were enroute to Hawaii.....hung out with the Old Man for good part of day, talking wwll birds, motorgead ****!
This is a great premise....a hot rod like an F-8-F might make a more intetesting duel.
I spent 1/2 the day yesterday thinking it was my b day....oy vey, today. Nice to see this again, on my b day. Also, i caught the clock today @ 11:11.......on the 11th.....rock n roll, my

Hey Bud, steam catapult is badfass.
I am not fond of Kilmer in this, dint cate for Him for a while after this 1st impression.....now, my favorite role in anything by anybody i think. is Val Kilmer in Tombstone, as 'doc' Holiday.......He played that **** to the bone!! He & Jason Priestly as Ringo, some tuff stuff.....thought Powers Booth wad killer. And of course,
Dana Delaney, who i maintain a crush on, since China Beach, Gorgeous natural Red/Auburn, but a Smoldering Brunette. Val Kilmer is a very Good Actor.....Heat.....what a movie that is......anyway, You spurred me to think about all that on my b day, another Gift.....Thanks Homie...bc

"Connie" blade i did @ Moto Art in 06...did a hanful for them. 8.5 ft, lower halves are shot peen while upper half is about 240 belt, cross hatched, so evening **** out for undistorted reflection is a trik....well, no triks, just taking the mountain to mohammed.
Did this one in 54 hours, a lot of long aluminums strap blocking w/ 40 grit to bring surface down,de-ripple.
Every piece i ever do, when the serious abrading is done, im ready to start really pulling the wet out from 2500, i never tire of it, each timr as brilliance comes with each pass, getting a bit brighter each time, i salivate, it still turns over my motor, of all the different areas i get into, polishing, of any medium, is a Reverent thing for Me, im like real Spiritual about it, cuz its Light....like adding to it.....part of my Religion.
I sure Love these big ol' Ham Standards, cant get these cores anymore....No more Connies to be had.
