Who Likes Aircraft ?

She flew on the fourteenth to a close by airbase. The video below is over a year old, but has been re-posted by "Rides with Chuck," to announce the fight. No other information to be found on line, that I can find. From what I read, this was just a "fairy flight" permitted by the FFA, till further evaluation can be done by them.

DeHavilland Mosquito.....all engines......built of plywood pretty much, fast fuckers. Reading 633 Squadron right now, have seen movie several times. A Mosquito outfit going after Pennemunde, where the nazi rocketry program went down, the mfging facility that the nazi's thought was invulnerable to attack because of its location.
But still my favorite hands down is the Martin B-26 Marauder(Widomak'r) HIGHEST return rate of any WWll aircraft. Short wings were dogfighters.

and armed to the teeth 4 20mm and 4 mg +rockets or bombes .they could dog fight with the best single engine axis fighters

JU87 Stuka replica, not exact but uk scale. He's the second owner of this aircraft. He had landing gear issues a couple of years ago, and hasn't been on YT since. Anyway, out of the other two I know of, this is the closest to exact in appearance.

I didn't know that Jimi, but there were 2 Zeros, most of us do not know this.
1. The Model 32 (Short range variants****)
2. The Model 21

*** The Model 32 was truly not a "Short range" in the sense of what "WE" would call short Range BUT compared to the extraordinary performance of the Model 21.
The Zero possessed markedly superior climb, acceleration and maneuverability over the Grumman F4F

And, it was often "overlooked" one of it's virtues (Model 21) was it's combat range of over 1,200 miles with a drop tank making it the world's first single-engine strategic fighter plane

Hughes claimed that the Mitsubishi was a rip on the H-1 racer.
Because it was a monoplane, radial engined and with a similar looking rudder, Hughes said it was obvious. British fans however claim that the A6M (Zero) came from the Gloster F.5 design

In reality, the A6M was merely a continuation, with retractable gear, of the previous A5M.

I do know:
1. The Achilles' heel off all Japanese aircraft in this Era were the power plants.
The designer; Jiro Horikoshi delivered the Zero with the Nakajima Sakae type 12, but the Sakae delivered only 950 HP, while the wildcat's Pratt & Whitney R-1830 delivered 1,200 HP.
So, Horikoshi realized this and identified that to make it competitive, superior was to make it cleaner, more aerodynamic and lighter.
Of course, this was design was without merits, such as durability in battle, no self sealing fuel tanks etc.

But, it was a GREAT aircraft!

Advanced Technologies:

"In August, Northrop Grumman Corp. won a $39-million contract to build the beam control system for a laser countermeasure project called Self-Protect High Energy Laser Demonstrator, or SHiELD, spearheaded by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico."

A Smaller Airborne LASER system on board an advanced Tactical fighter

Light sabers for real now...

cool stuff-Ski

I was just reading yesterday, maybe the day before
IIRC the 1st F-35{A?} Naval
took off & landed on a moving aircraft carrier,
fully armed & loaded
actually fired some of the weaponry too...

Sorry no link I should have saved it...

I'd have loved to witness that...

I'm sure if they are telling the world now of it's capabilities,
"it's no doubt been done many times before" just covertly,
rightly so too...

Yes Budnicks, the F-35 is a GREAT platform but also carries the burden of being "the new kid on the block" and therefore it has it's detractors/pundits (opposition)
And yet, I talk to these guys flying the jet, they freakin LOVE it!
And yes, part of the F-35 Combined Test Force here at Edwards are the Aussie/ Great Brittan/Israel/Denmark/Netherlands
These guys LOVE it!

There's just "Something about that plane/platform"
is just sexy/badassery as all hell,
also including the F-22 platform of course...

My old favorites were the F-14 & F-15,
they are still cool as hell, but not the stealth F-22 & F-35 type of cool
new guys on the block & all...

My boy says, he hears the same things, as you said...

I'm pretty sure the funding, support will get a bit better now too...
No hater in the WH after Jan...

Ah, well, that sure looks like a ZED to me!
In the So Pacific campaign that is what they initially called the Zero (ZED)
Yeah Photon, it looks like a Zero, or should I say a Zero looks like that!
Great point!

One of only two complete Stuka's in the world. One is in a museum in Chicago, this one in a British museum. There is a project here in the US, but its in pieces as it's a collection of wrecks from the plains of Russia. It will be a complicated build, as there are no original plans to be found.
