I'm trying to re-hose my 68 440 and got a diagram from CHARGERSTEVEN which shows me the route for the hoses. But I can not find any information on part # 2843554. I think its some type of vacuum damper but not sure. Anyone have any information on it. I'll include some pictures.

That's some sort of vacuum retarder for the distributor. I'm not sure, but I think that they may have been on CA equipped vehicles. You're better off eliminating it.

Yes, it's definitely an emissions control device. It is supposed to supply the vacuum advance signal the distributor during deceleration to promote cleaner burning of the fuel under very lean mixture conditions....aka lower hydrocarbons. Effrctive???? The best fix....eliminate it unless you are building a factory correct car.

Thanks, trying to build as correct as possible. Its still there and working just needed to get the correct hose hookup.
