1969 Road Runner facelift

Great Pic's Dave......Relaxing just to look at them. And yes..Hammmmsss.......Beeeeerr

Getting ready for my annual "lost in the woods" season to begin as well...

Crystal Clear lakes....Hundreds of thousands of acre's of public forest's.....Pan fried walleye....Crakeling fire.....Cold Beer....not a damn thing to worry about.......And it's all in our back yard.

Isn't it great living in the upper great lakes!!!!!!!!!!

#1 Reason I live here.

Enjoy the R&R Dave!

Awesome pics Dave! It's been a long time since I've spent any decent time in the woods. Used to go quite often 20 years ago, Pictured Rocks on the Lake Superior shoreline is an amazing place in the U.P. Enjoy yourselves!

Well I'm back guys

Had a really good time and I'm geting ready to get after that plymouth again.

As long as you stayed out of the cover of the trees and brush they were fine, I always like to camp on spots with large rock outcroppings, bare rock, really makes the bug sittuation a lot nicer.

Now, as to the bird... I got the T7 bronze bug... really starting to think hard about it.

By the quality of those great photos you could work for National Geographic. They really are nice.. Camping a pure joy for sure. Didn't know you went, but welcome back to you sir!

Thanks guys, the wife got the loon (bird) pics. Which is good because it is her camera.

I picked up a new camera and lens & misc camera junk for her about a week before our trip.

She had an older 35mm SLR film cam that has been gathering dust as we've all traveled far into the digital cam age.

So, I felt it was time to rejuvenate her hobby by providing her with some modern tools.

Canon 600D (T3i) body with a 24-105mm f2.8 "L series" lens, USM autofocus and image stabilization. A nice general purpose "walk around" lens. She'll be adding lenses to her collection just as we add disk brakes, purple bump sticks, pinion snubbers and evil pistol grips to our mopars

She got some nice shots during our trip, I'm really glad she got an opportunity at those loon shots because they turned out nice even with poor lighting and she's getting a lot of compliments on them.

So, while I was gone I had a little time to slow down and reflect on my plymouth a bit. I mentioned the T7 paint color again above. I don't know guys, I guess with my car being prepped for a new coat of color I find myself sympathizing with the original color. With all of my findings this far in the way of my engine & trans matching up to my VIN, as well as my body stampings... the air grabber hood option, the white vinyl top... It all seems somewhat unique. I have yet to see another T7 69 with a white vinyl top. I know I don't have a "special" or "rare" car here but I do have a car that still owns all this original equipment and I'm feeling compelled to put it back to it's original color to tie it all together.

I saw a few brand new F150 pickups sporting a rootbeer metallic paint color recently... And I found it interesting.

I have a friend that runs his own collision center/body shop. He has a lot of old paint mixing data, I dropped in on him earlier this week and we looked up the ingredients for 1969 T7 bronze. He can mix it for me in a dupont urethane base no prob.

And I'm seriously considering it.

not to tell you what to do with your car dave, but i think it is bit unusual for a white vinyl top and the bronze. as far as "rare", yes it is,you are a "one-of-a-kind" owner of the car.On a side note, the next time you do a canoe wheelie, you'd better have "wheelie bars" on there.LOL.

I got nuthin for you guys this Monday morning. Power is still half out in my shop, electrician didn't show over the weekend to locate the broken power wire between my meter and my shop. (broken wire burried underground)

Being a leg down on my 100 amp service, my welder wont work, no air compressor... half my wall outlets are dead... :(

Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you realize you have an iconic piece of American pride from better times sitting out in the shop partially finished.

A 1969 383 4 speed roadrunner.

I have one.

And it's time to get rolling again on the project.

Here you go boys, proof that the car does still exist. I've been chasing around the body today with 80 grit on the 8" sander, prepping for epoxy primer.

Sorry for my month and a half leave.

I'm going to, I can't see doing all this work and not squirting the right color on it since I feel it is inevitable.

I have a 77F150 that the kirker sunburnt copper pearl will look really nice on so the color i already purchased wont be wasted.

Great to hear you're rolling on the "Tin Chicken" again Dave. Go get'em!!!!!

Can't quite remember, but are you going with a Kirker epoxy primer as well?

Yeah I bought my whole primer & paint package already, I'll use it all excpt for the base coat which I will replace with a dupont base coat in T7 and I'll lay the kirker black diamond clear over it.

Yes my epoxy is kirker as well, I think I even bought some urethane 2k kirker prime.

And I have some clausen polyester surfacer called "all u need" which is supposed to be some kind of wonder magic water tight surfacer/sealer do everything primer. But i will be going through the steps of epoxy, then the poly surfacer, blocking till my arms fall off, might color seal with the 2K urethane then start spraying the sparkles & clear coat.

That is going to be a nice car. If mine was that orignal and #'s matching I would probably do the same but it would have been a sweet ride in the orange pearl also that is one of my favorite colors. Great project hopefully see it next year at mopars in the park.

Thanks, i do really hope to make it down to mopars in the park next year with the car.

Look for us, there shouldn't be too many T7 with a white vynil top lol. At least I haven't been able to find another one.

I saw a pretty similar orange pearl on a 70' superbee last week, had white interior... Looked unbelievably great!

You'll have to pick up another mopar project to toss that paint on Dave. Wouldn't want to waste that paint in all...LOL

I got projects coming out of my ears, it wont go to waste. lol!

I love orange with white interior by the way. Red with white interior too, hell I just really like white interior!
