I just talked with the seller of this car and will likely go look at it in the next few days. I'm interested in any opinions on value.

67 Satellite, 383, 4 bbl, auto, PB, PS. I asked for a pic of the fender tag, but it's parked 25 miles from the seller and it's snowing right now so it might take a while.

Seller says:
Original paint with minor fading and one small rust bubble over rear tire. No dents or dings. Minor paint chips.
Numbers matching 383 4 bbl with some 'cam work' according to his father who he inherited it from.
68,000 miles reported to be original.
Original parchment interior in good condition. No rips/tears/major stains. Good carpet/headliner. Bucket seat/console/floor shift.
Minor pitting on bumpers.
4 matching old-school cragars + 2 more larger diameter old-school Cragars on rear now to raise stance.
A/C blows but doesn't know if it blows cold.
All electricals work except one brake light, and he disconnected horn because it goes off when steering wheel is tightened.

That's all I remember right now. He's asking $22,500 with 'some room' to negotiate. I have a number in mind, but I tend to shoot low. What do you think?

Cheers! Doug

I would use the black engine bay paint as a price dropping bargaining point.

Someone spray bombed the engine bay black instead of using the correct body color. No big deal to some, but that would drive me nuts. Why would you replace the cam if it is running good?

The seller's dad told him that it had some cam work done. I'm assuming that means a replacement with a better performing cam because of the supposed low miles.

the real value of any of these cars in in the condition of the body, imo..... everything else is a crap shoot

if that's truly original/rust free metal, it's worth the money right there

If it all checks out it has to worth around the asking price...and you're buying from an actual person who hopefully has all the history on the car, and not some auction house or classic car dealer that will tell you anything to get a sale.
Go for it.

Blacked out engine bay and added hood stripes tell me to look very close at the "original paint". Fair chance it is repainted. If so what color was it originally? Simple maintenance items like burned brake light and stuck horn not being addressed would make one look closer at everything. If it's too much work to fix these, how much work did he think an lube and oil change was?

I don't think the ask is crazy... maybe on the high end depending on the buyer preferences. There is certainly room to negotiate after a close look. Maybe start at $15k, depending on what you find? He's probably looking for 20?

67 Satty's are very classy

When he claimed original paint, I asked about those stripes. I guess they're on the trunk too. He said he thought they're original. I don't know if that was an option or not. As far as maintenance, he has replaced the fuel pump and a couple other things, but the story is that it was his dad's car and he inherited it. He's taken it to some shows but is more of a lowrider guy and needs money to pay vet bills. $15k is where I'll start if it's a car that I want. If he needs $20k he'll need a different buyer. Thanks for your input @#41 .

#1- no such thing as "matching numbers" on a 67 engine.

#2- those "383 Four Barrel" emblems are not correct, they are Dodge only in 67.
It should have "Commando V8" emblems if it is a big block car, although I'm not sure if 383 2 barrel cars got that in 67)

Do you have the VIN?
Should be RP23H7 for a 383-4.

#3- 67 Satellite should have silver paint below the chrome trim.
(There was a "lower paint delete" option, and that should be on the fender tag if present)

My brothers car it was originally a 383-2 barrell.
It never had commando emblems just the 383 hood ornament.

I've never heard the term "parchment" as a seat cover color.
Are they pearl white?

Thanks for clarifying that.
I was more familiar with 66.

I do know, in 67. the 383 hood ornaments had a black background for 2 barrel cars and a red background for 4 barrel cars.

This is the hood ornament off his car.
He put a 440 in his and gave it to me.

I agree 22K is not bad unless it's got bad or a lot of bodywork.

Not even terrible money for a 2 barrel AC car if that's what it turns out to be.

I'm awaiting more info. The car is parked in his mother's garage 25 miles from his house, and we have a blanket of snow right now. That pretty much shuts everyone down out here. It might be a couple of days. This is all good info - thank you for that! He mentioned the 4 barrel emblems when I asked if that's what it has (how did you see those in the pics I posted?). If they were added (sounds like they were), it still could have originally been a 4 barrel, or a 4 barrel swap from a 2. Numbers will tell.

He didn't post any interior pics and I haven't seen the car yet. Maybe it's not a Mopar thing but parchment is what I call white interiors that are not white, but more off-white.

That's useful. Thank you, sir. Do you know if that's true for 66 also?

Thanks for all the input guys. Next step is to get the tag info, then set eyes on the car. The biggest concern is the rust bubble. I've walked on more than one car because of that.

Power brakes is an interesting option for 67.

Hardly ever see that for some reason...but a Satellite or 500 would be the car to see them on.

I had a 67 satellite 20 years ago. When I got it the engine compartment was blacked out but not with paint , it was undercoating. Hated it and wanted it gone. One cold freezing day I decided to see if it would come off any easier. Once I got a putty knife under it , it started chipping off cleanly.
That said , I think a big block satellite like that is worth that asking price…..pending the interior inspection of course

I just talked with the seller and he's getting a lot of interest, including a guy ready to fly up from Texas (Who dat?). I'm 1st in line and will go look at the car tomorrow, cash in hand, ready to make a deal. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again to all who posted here. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Final question for now: Does that blue look like a stock Plymouth color?
