Well guys it was a pretty victorious weekend! Here's an update on the past few days
I got my jobs done early at work on Friday, so me and my dad did this fun little side project machining a spacer for the crank pulley on Mike's Hemi. He said he used a 440 style dampener because the cost is so much less compared to the hemi counterpart with the same performance, so he needed a spacer for the factory hemi pulley to line up correctly.
So we started on the mill with flycutting the material flat and drilling the bolt circle. Took a bit of trig to find the position for the one offset hole but we got it haha
Then we milled it to thickness, leaving the front register that the pulley locates to.
Then the outer diameter and over to the lathe to face the backside and ID turn the inner register that locates to the dampener.
And the finished product!
Then off to Mike's after work for delivery, fits like a glove! :icon_thumleft: So if there's much of a demand for these I may start making them in production, that way anyone can save some money running a 440 dampener and still retain all the factory hemi pulleys.
Can't forget the 540 cubes of engine **** haha
Now back to the regularly scheduled Charger programming lol. After some colorful language and a good chunk of time I got the cowl fins all leveled off and straightened. Opted for the paintstick/ hook tool combo and a buddy of mine was over hanging out at the shop and helped eyeball how close everything looked. Just a note to anyone doing this for the first time like me, it doesn't take much force to pull these things so don't over-do it. I'm assuming if you pull too far and stretch the metal you'll pretty much be stuck with some wobbly looking fins. (Still say you should put your tool into production elk lol!)
And finally got the cowl to A-pillar seams done, and the rest of the bodywork on the cowl in check :icon_pray:
So at this point I'm finally all systems go for primer, gonna get everything all cleaned out and masked off today. Feel like I'm making some real progress now

Just make sure you mount them facing back if they're "fer racing" (propulsion) haha. Still kicking around what I'm going to do, I know I want a digital media player since all my music is on an I pod now and I'm thinking about putting some tweets in my console, 6X9s in the package tray (pods behind to tall seat backs) and maybe a couple 10s in the trunk? Then again the factory system in out Aspen is really nice and I'm sure I'd be fine with it so we'll see. I'm shooting for our local car show as well (I've got plenty of time) but I was driving mine in the same condition you described, car guys understand "you just can't wait on little things like windows haha". Enjoy
That'd be a pretty cool setup! Most of my music is here on my phone nowadays so I'm just running a nice Pioneer deck with an auxillary input, and my car was factory 3 speaker so that made the decision easy on where to put the 3.5's haha. Well good luck to both of us! Lol at least your car is already looking gorgeous and tearing up the roads! :icon_thumleft:
Man O' Man......."Back in Black" banging on the radio, hands griped tight on the wheel, foot just waiting to furiously mash the pedal to the board, and the thumpity thump of a big block rocking the antenna back and forth like an earthquake. Just think what you got to look forward to. It's gonna be Epic.
Man... it sounds so beautiful haha I think the "mission" I was on has turned into an all out assault, so hopefully those days aren't too far off!
