69 Coronet 440 project

that's how you do it, check, recheck, rerecheck. And it's great to have the daughter helping. my youngest is my best helper. weither it be grabbing a tool when I'm underneath, or holding something in place.

I think that would look good also with a white stripe.

Bought more metal today. I got the left rear frame rail and the rear cross rail / bumper mount. I also picked up a sand blast cabinet from Harbor Freight for $150.00. As long as it makes it through this project it will be money well spent. The only problem is my one car garage is filling up quick. :)

As I'm installing the rear frame rails in the Coronet I noticed that they do not have the tabs that the shock tower welds to. To remedy this problem I cut off the tabs from the old frame rail and welded them to the new frame rail. I'm definitely getting better with my welding.

Then a shot of zinc oxide primer to help prevent rust.

I've also started repairing the inner wheel wells today.

Does anybody know if I remove the trunk braces from the wheel well, do I have to remove the trunk hinge spring first? The wells are rusted out behind them and I will also have to patch the braces as well.

Coming along nicely. I bought the Harbor Freight blast cabinet a couple of years ago. I ended up upgrading the gun to a Skat Blast - this works much better than the original.

Looking good! I had to replace both frame rails on my project, but I had to do the whole frame rail on each side. I would remove the springs before you went much further. There is some tension there, just take some pictures so you know how they go back on. It's nice to see a project going on just down the street from me. I was looking at that blaster myself, let us know how well it works.Keep up the good work.

That's good to know Hunt. I think at some point I want to replace the gloves as well. They're a bit small.

I'm in Trenton. I guess it's a few blocks, a country mile, and a few more streets. LOL

Well, I got a little more done on the Coronet. The right inner wheel well is patched. Now I have one more patch to put in and that side inner will be done. My thread is starting to look like all the other threads here, Start in the rear replace the frame, patch the inner wheel wells, replace the trunk floor, then move on to the quarters. I guess this means I'm doing it right. :)

What do you call this part? Trunk Spring Bracket? Trunk Hinge Bracket? Trunk Thingamahitchey? I think I need to replace the lower half of whatever this is on both sides.

While I'm at it what is this part called so I can try and replace it.

you're correct on the 1rst picture trunk lid hinge (bracket) . the 2nd photo, that is called a channel lock pliers.

Sorry, couldn't resist. That's your quarter extention.

I also bought a Dana 60 tonight for the Coronet. It's a 4.10 limited slip 31 spline axle, and it only cost me $100.00. The bad part is it's out of a 73 Ford pickup. I'll shorten the axle housing, put on mopar ends and new axles and be good. I think I can do this for under the $2000.00 price for a mopar dana 60.

Thanks I was wondering what those were called. :p

My guess would be trunk hinge support. Progress is looking good!

Thanks Prop, slow but sure. It was fun making the patch for that inner well. That was the first time I've done anything like that. This site gives you a lot of courage.
