I'd say go for it Donny...I can see the debate about having a bowtie on our mighty mopar sight, but on the flipside, illustrations and documentaion on your media blasting and body work on it definitly out weighs the fact it has a GM VIN, being it could be a learning tool for someone down the line.

Also the fact that the project is part of your livelihood and passion gives plenty more reason to post away.

I second that
it's not like Donny doesn't contribute a Ton of Mopar content
thanks for all the info!
BTW that chevelle is a real BONDO bucket LOL

It's interesting to see what happens over at the Chevy camp sometimes. I just can believe all the rust on this Chevelle.

Dude, that's a project. I'm all for looking at car ****, doesn't matter who's hubcaps are being worn. If you only had, say, 2 posts, and started this thread, I'm sure Tem would bounce you. You do one heck of a job and it's always great to see a pro at work. Personally, I make my living off of all of those Chevy lovers. I won't even bust your chops about yet another Red '70 Chevelle with a 4spd. (LS-6 car, too, I would bet.) :rolling:

Hey guys I thought I would update for Donny, here is the car now in its current state. :rolling:

Hey thanks folks! I'm enjoying tearing into this car weld by weld, being very careful as I go! One thing I don't like is the floor nestled between the rocker panels! This adds a LOT of time to removing the floor and the trim associated with it.

I got the right rocker (outside) off with no damage to inner rocker panel, got the left rocker separated from floor pan with most of the trim removed from between the layers. Had to cut out the section of qtr panels where the rear seat window resides to gain easier access to removing spot welds. Gotta be careful to not remove the wheelhouses yet as they are supporting the car until I can get the rear section of the dolly/carriage made for this vehicle. Half of it is done now, but, making/adding another section is neccessary to repair/replace the rear trunk. Also, I will be building a 'coathanger' around this car welding two extrusions to the deck filler lid to keep it immobile when the wheelhouses and qtrs and trunk floor comes out. When this happens, it surely will be a frightening sight, I will be sure to have lots of pictures!

And, now that I got this update out of the way, know that my Dad was just diagnosed with Cancer, bone cancer what it looks like so far...so, I don't know how and what is going on with him over the next couple of weeks, but, the Doctors found a growth the size of an Orange on his shoulder blade! Wish him luck!!!

fire away

man you have your work cut out ( no pun intented ) for you ..hey muscles muscle like to see what people are working on and how their progressing ..pick up some tips along the way ....I have a Monte SS in my garage with the Mopars :tongueflap:....everyone's entitled to go to the dark side once in a while ..post away

My thoughts will be with your father, I am very sorry to hear about the diagnoses, be strong for him Donny.

Thanks! He's going in for a second opinion on the growth on his shoulder, let's hope he gets a good bill of health! Thanks again! He's in good spirits though.

Here's some of today's work...got the outer rocker panel mocked up/in where it's going to go permanently. Be prepared folks if you dive in this deep into your projects; be prepared with tools, jacks, tools, rags, fans, music, and patience. It took me a LONG time to acquire the stuff I have to even begin to tackle projects of this scale!

Notice the rot in the upper right hand corner, it's worse on the other side same place. Also, notice how I cut out a large section of the corner where this rocker mounts, but, not the mounts that were ample to secure what you see here. I just can't leave old metal next to new metal, especially when it's rotting, so, out it came and will put some new stuff in there. #10x3/4 with a hex head sheet metal screw is the hot ticket folks, just long enough, and not too long to bump over onto the other side.

....Just so you know, as soon as this GM car is done, it's outta there, and my GTX goes on this cool stand I made, and the contraption I made for the GTX a while ago will go Bye-Bye. This stand will serve as the tabledolly where the new metal is grafted on the GTX, can't wait to get going -- again on it!

Hey Donny, do you ever wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat after having a nightmare about a gang of spotwelds comming to get you.
Man, you must get tired of drilling those suckers out.:frustrated:
