The above seen rusty messes is now a thing of the past! New inner panels installed, complete left and right. Media blasted everything inside BEFORE putting new metal inside. fabbed and trial fit everything in, then, fit the new cowel covers, all went on pretty good, about 8 hrs to get both sides done, welded, and painted up -- I feel very confident in this work, this car is coming back, will have pics tomorrow or the next day.

Sorry for you GM haters out there, I started a thread over in a Chevelle forum, but, I could not get 'friendly' over there with the people, it just wasn't clicking -- and since I'm a MOPAR guy at heart, thanks all for 'tolerating' me putting up the progress on this car. After all, the same stuff I do here on this car is applied to my Satellite, GTX and 300.

No problem Donny. I enjoy seeing metal work, even on a Chevrolet.

Ok, as I said earlier, I tried to get some traction in a Chevelle forum, but, the level of restoration/workmanship (I/We do) here on forbbodiesonly warrants my continued updates on this Chevelle -- for the aspect only to support the metal craftsman in us all, not promoting or dissing GM, I'm a MOPAR guy in and out! Here's some of the latest pics.

This inner ribbing under the qtr is toast, rotted all out! I took some metal, layed on top, welded it on, it ain't pretty, but, it need not be as the qtr is on top of it.
Notice the package tray; it's also toast, owner wants to keep it, oh well, fine with me; less to take apart and all! So, I'm templating with paper the new metal I'll weld in either under this slop, or, cut out the slop (likely) and butt weld new metal into bad package tray.

Man is that a rusty rascal, looks like it maybe spent some time in WI.I still have a little GM blood so i am enjoying this.Keep up the good work.

Here's some of up front, tied in (via sheet metal screws) today the left rocker, it fit in better than I thought it would! And hung the left qtr panel in a crude test run/fit, folks, I am impressed how it initially was lining up, I was looking for rocker panel to qtr fitting, and, from what you can see here, I am very pleased -- so far, so good. These things take time, and patience, and, it's expensive, but, if you locate a retired US servicemember that used to be a Welder in the military, and the client is willing to take the time, at a very fair price per hour vs. some other local but unknown shops on the national scale, then it's a win-win for all involved! :)

Just so you know, this qtr is just barely hanging on...it's not fastened at all at any point on the car!

Major rust for sure! Thing is the owner never knew the extent of how bad it was until I Media Blasted it!

my hats off to you donny,i never would have even thought of tackling that much rust, even if i did know what i was doing like you do.

Yeah, the guy bought it for a good price, a genuine SS car, owner knew it has some rust, but this amount of rust, jeesh! But, the exciting thing is this car is coming back from the brink! I've taken extensive photos of this car since getting it in July, and looked at them last evening again, wow, even I am amazed at where I am now vs. then.

Got the trunk pan in today, well, fit it in; prepped it for the weld in to the floor. Going to surge on this car as much as I can this week and next!

Jesus man! Are you still working on this thing?
Oh and Donny, nice job. How's the El Camino going?

Kudos to you bro! I honestly would have walked away from that shell after seeing all that rust. A floor pan and quater is ok but once you start getting that far into it and having to replicate structure pieces I'm out! Good job man!

Yeah, still working on it, about 5-10 hrs a week! No El Camino, that's gone to www.paintshop101.com for their services, it's all fixable, it's not my car, the owner wants it fixed, so...$$$ ka ching ka ching ka ching!

Oh yeah, taking in a 69 Camaro Big Block next weekend, complete car for blasting, car's solid, very solid, should clean up really nicely.

Nice work Donny, even though the owner of this Chevelle got it for a good price as you said, it just goes to show how an innocent/unsuspecting and perhaps somewhat naive buyer can get caught out getting lumbered with a Bondo Bucket with not such a reasonable $$$$$$ tag attatched to it.

Made some more serious progress on this car yesterday. Got the inner and outer wheelhouse screwed in with just a little persuasion from my assorted body hammers. It actually is looking more like a car these days! Pics coming...
