Any Concord Ca. guys, from back in the day

Yeah - as I remember, Linda was easy on the eyes in addition to being a nice girl and into Mopars. I winning combination! I had an earthquake experience while I was there, too. One day I was sitting in my GTX parked - working on the stereo or something - when it started rolling back and forth a little. I thought someone was pushing on it from behind - like rocking it while it was still in gear. I even got out and walked around it to find no one around. It wasn't until later that my brother told me about an earthquake that hit Coalinga, CA that day - some 400 miles away from us. But we still felt it in Santa Clara.

Yep, you remember correctly. She was easy on the eyes!

Dvm

Somehow I missed this post earlier. I remember MMCI and I knew Linda very well. She had her dad's green 69 Coronet 440 that she had restored and made sort of a hot rod out of. Very nice car. She used to date my neighbor but I haven't seen her in years. Her and I, with a couple of others, were the founders of this local MoPar club called Diablo MoPar Association but eventually it got taken over by a group that wanted to be all formal and adult like. All I wanted to do was drag race so my buddies and I left.

Yep good old Diablo Valley Mopars, Linda & Roland & Sue Merman were tight, at 1 point any way, I didn't know her personally... I think they are still in around, I have seen some car show advertisements sponsored by them... I never joined any of the clubs, knew a bunch of people in them, I was always a "Lone Wolf" so to speak, I didn't really like someone dictating, what I did & were to go, with my cars, too many in the clubs were "way to bossy" for me, too political & cliche, too many rules, all I cared about was chasing some tail & having some fast cars & the occasional race... I visited many shows & did some drive byes, or tryed to get a race going or something, I really never was a "show car guy" in my youth, a bunch of my friends would go to local shows, Car Craft, Good Guys, World of Wheels, Oakland Roadster Show, Gary Meterzs shows & the likes, spend all that time building there cars, then just sit by their cars {I understand it now, I didn't back then}, that they put a ton of money in & just baby them, I was more of the, go out & "beat the crap out of it" type & there were allot of so called "No go show boats" back in the day, you know, I was just a racer at heart... Oh my misspent youth...

There you go speaking my language again. I had the white 68 Road Runner with a brown hood and a black primer door and some other color trunk lid, mismatched wheels, rip and roll upholstery and a big hole in the rug to clear the 4 spd hump I put in. For a while I didn't have the hump so I just threw a floor mat over the hole. But the car ran mid 13's on street tires when the show boats could barely get out of their own way. I'm still not a big car show guy (usually hang out in the swap meet section all day) but I do like the informal parking lot gatherings. Diablo MoPar was my first car club and I don't plan on joining another and it's not because I have a problem hanging out with car people. I just don't want to deal with politics and cliches.

Oh yeah, I saw Brian Smith tonight and his 68 GTX that was often seen at Encina Grande Shopping Center was any one of the following colors: Light blue, black primer and red. Just not sure in what order. Prior to that he had a 67 GTX. He also reminded me that Fatty had a light yellow 69 HEMI Charger 500 4 spd that he bought from Roland. Probably paid the equivalent of $6000 coke dollars for it.

Yep

:iamwithstupid: I started laughing as soon as I saw the post about "fatty" buying a car from Roland, the price was probably more than that even on the scales... I'm not sure if it's the same guy but I think I know Brian maybe, it was more casual acquaintance, I'm not the best when it comes to names, I remember cars pretty well...

A friend

Talk about a big hole, I had a good friend Jeff Boggs he had a 70's Gremlin that he put a 383 bb/727 from his wrecked 70 Cuda' in it, he cut almost the whole damn firewall out of the car & part of the front part of the tunnel to fit the engine/trans back as far as he could, he drove it like that for a while too, that thing was a death trap to ride in {only once for me, with out a fire wall}, but it was fast as hell, he would beat some of the faster cars back then, with that old piece of **** Gremlin...

Hey Meep-Meep do you remember a guy named Mike Fuentez {spelling?} he was a friend of Rolands & a die hard older MoPar guy, he had a really nice 70 Challenger 440 SixPac "white" I think... The Bonapart {spelling?} Brothers 1 had a 64-65 Fury or Polara S/S look a like, "I'm not sure now" white with red accents a 426 street wedge 4spd & a STR Cross ram w/2x4bbls "I think", I can't remember their 1st names {Bob maybe on 1} the other brothers car was a Bronze 69 Charger with a 440 with a single then, twin turbos, it never ran like it should have though... Just curious...

I didn't know Mike Fuentez (sp) but I heard the name. Don't remember the other cars and people.

I haven't heard from court in a while and don't know who bbody65 is. Are we it for Concord CA on this site?? A couple of years ago I ran into Steve Hertel in the Sac area. He had a lime green 68 Barracuda notchback with a 383 and a tunnel ram with two Predator carbs. He couldn't beat the white 68 RR with the Max Wedge (mine) but put up a good fight.

I remember the name Steve Hertel, can't put a face with it,
I also do vaguely remember the green Barracuda with Predator carbs too...

bump for new member

We have a new Concord member???

Yeah I saw it in the welcome wagon section guys location was Concord Ca

he goes by 1BAD426GTX,

he has only one post,

a question about finding out information on his car,
that he bought back in 1976 IIRC, nice green original appearing 69 Hemi GTX...

Figured I'd try anyway....
