"Behind the Green Door"

You are preaching to the choir. Great story, project and photos, I am on board.

Wow, look like it might have been easier to turn the 4 door car into a 2 dr!?

"OK after all of that and a half million bucks later here we go!"

You didn't really spend a half million bucks did you? Cause if you did it's not only the car that needs repair in my opinion. Do you know how many pristine Mopar's you could pick up for that kind of dough. Barret Jackson would love you. And all of us here would be drooling at your collection.

EVIL in Black

Well Snakeyes, I had posted :" I want to see what's behind that Green Door with a Marilyn Chambers reference..."

And as the Claw stated, YES, it is a great look for that car! It does look EVIL in black!
When working on the overall plan for the Belv - Evil, Wicked, Mean, and Nasty kept running around in my head. That's to much to say and remember so keeping it simple it is just plain "Sinister"!!! Since I brushed elbows with this guy the name for the car came about - "The Grim Reaper".

Gtx

Took a little break after discovering my new welder didn't have any wire feed control and beat the GTX. Gary

More Surgery

Doing the mini tub trick - moving springs inboard making just a little more room! IMG_1556.jpgIMG_1557.jpgIMG_1558.jpgIMG_1559.jpg

Up to Speed

Enough of the progress reports - everyone will now be up to speed. Mocked the car up (9/25/15) to check the proto type of the wheel well headers I tacked together and set the ride height.IMG_20150925_141913.jpgIMG_20150925_141958.jpgI'm a happy camper!!!

Been following the thread. You've had your trials and tribulations. I've had a few myself but also kept my 68 GTX for 43 years now. You're a testimony to determination and perseverance. You're also doing some nice work on that puppy. Black on black is a Nast look on that car. Keep up the nice work and postings. Thx for the thread.

Wow, love it! I'm a huge fan of that body style, the scoop and wheels look awesome not to mention the metal work.

You are amazing in the fact that you were able to keep your GTX through all of this ****.

Season is Changing

The season is changing quickly here in Northern Michigan and the updates may be far and few between. Unfortunately the resources($$) aren't allowing me to relocate my operation somewhere where the ambient temp is around 65/70* - a Mopar Habitat would be nice!!! The plan is to get the driver side proto type header tacked together before the weather takes a ****. The task with the header is to avoid the dual master cyl, column shift linkage, clutch linkage and Z bar, I may decide at some point to change from auto to a four spd. Some of the preliminary fitment looks promising but we all know how that story goes - eh? Have a few indoor winter 66 car projects lined up so not to loose focus. Winters here can be a Bitch sometimes!!! Well I am off to the Belvedere Hotel to see what's in store behind the green door( I'm a poet). Thanx to all for the views, comments, and support - Gary

Looks great. I am always amazed and inspired by you guys who tackle the fab work on your rides. It pushes me to try and do more on my ride, which is a 66 Belvedere I as well.

Do you know what year your hubcaps are from? I am working with 15" rims and late 60's dog dish, but would like to go back to a 66 set of centre caps.

Keep The updates coming, love the post cars!

Well I have had to alter my plan a bit since the weather here hasn't been the most pleasant for working on the old hot rod (rain, wind, cold temps). As we all know there are many arduous task that have to be done bringing the "car stuff" back to like new condition. So I have been cleaning and prepping stuff.

And more stuff.
