"Behind the Green Door"

Looking into the scoop and the air cleaners and nut on the top reminds me of a mountain in our area called 'molly's nipple'!Like to learn the back story on that one.Spam sammiches and GYC,why do you have to be so mean!!

The back story is pretty simple really - it goes along with the S/S grille theme - I have always liked a good looking set of headlights!!!

My wife likes fried spam with M&C. Over the past few months, she's made that about 3 times. I think it's about time for me to fix up a pot of M&C with chili, sausage and veggie gumbo mix and stick it all in the same pot! Funny though how she's not a fan of that lol

Thanks Cranky for the recipe - that sounds really yummy!!!

Back at it

Getting back at it after a little Rachel Ray recipe swapping session of scrumptious morsels jamb packed with nutrients to keep us moving forward on our Mopar projects.

I have contacted 5.7 hemi (Zack) for the completion of the S/S grille, head light bezels, and hood lip molding. I had contemplated doing all of that myself, but by the time I accumulated everything to complete the task I am further ahead with Zack in the drivers seat so when I get it back it's plug and play!!!

The remaining portion needed to complete the grille will be here tomorrow 11/17/2015. In the building of the grille it takes 3 grilles with only the center sections needed to be fitted and welded in the area of the parking lights. If you have been following the build I posted a pic of the prototype earlier. Along with the S/S grille I also have a OE grille handy if one day I get an overload of estrogen!!!

No pressure there, eh? LOL!

Fender Damage

As I am going through all the picture folders stored on my boob box arranging them in the build file this one appeared.

Earlier this year I purchased front fenders to replace the ones the car came with - they had so many repairs, the undersides were so rusty, and the braces were gone. The newly acquired passenger fender was in great shape but the drivers side had some damage which didn't look bad until I removed the mud.

It appeared as if a large C channel had creased it severely and who ever repaired it was an idiot! The metal was so stretched that the only way to get it back to some reasonable facsimile of the way it was is the old hack, slash, bump, and weld trick.

The new welder is here but the weather has really takin a **** - high winds, 35 degrees, and the snow is coming down horizontally! "Come On Spring"!!!

As I run across other folders I will post them.

Other than that repair that fender looks to be in pretty good shape! Very hard to find these days. Keep up the great work!

Thanks - the fenders came out of Texas and the doors came from Utah. I have a couple of Mopar buds that are helping with the procurement of pieces and parts!!!:VB toast:

Another folder

I found more to pass along in this never ending process. When putting together the plan for the fender well headers knowing that I would have to remove a portion of the inner fender reducing the structural integrity. Fortunately US Car Tool makes exactly what I needed - inner fender braces - yea!! I tacked them in to make sure I leave enough of the inner fender for welding after surgery. With a little massaging the braces fit like a glove!!!

In the Spring

I am still getting the project STUFF ready for the spring approx. 4 months away - at my age that is a blink of an eye and I will be 69 (the way of life)!!! lmao!

I have a few areas to tweak before starting on the relocation of the rear springs inboard into the frame rails. I have done a little siferin and gozindas to the tune that the axle has to be moved rearward 2". The reason for the move is I don't want to rework the wheel well opening to accept the 30 1/2" tire and upset the original integrity, also adding a little more symmetry between the wheel well opening and the tire - so when done the front (tangent point) of the tire will be in the original location. Well - when this process starts the car has to be stationary, leveled, and supported until the spring relocation trick is complete which might take a while or maybe Tinkerbelle will arrive with the old magic wand!!! I am also setting up the spring pockets (US Car Tool) for 20" and 22" front segments to allow for the use of stock HD or Super Stock springs. Now to finish up the spring relocation, instead of shackles I am using Allstar sliders which will fit in nicely!

And lastly to rework the upper shock mount to correct the position/ angle of the shock.

The Chase

In doing this project the thing that is time consuming and exciting at the same time is The Chase for pieces and parts. Here are a few treasures I have picked up along the way.

One item I picked up was a split bench and tracks - the entire frame, springs, and tracks were like new - incredible!!!

Still on the chase!!!
