Car Shows and lack of Mopars

I quit going to shows, for the most part. I do the three Cars-n-Coffee events the first, second and the third Saturdays of each month. Hell, our local Mopar show in June had only 66 vehicles! I like to drive my Imperial and my Coronet. Did shows all through the '80s. While honestly, most shows these days are like driving to the local new car dealer. I don't go to shows to see 2015 Challengers, Camaro and Mustangs. It certainly isnt 1996 anymore.

I like our local Mopar show, it keeps getting bigger each year, 137 cars this year up from 90 last year, but I see the same thing at the "any car" type show, very few Mopars, sometimes I can count them on one hand!

At the little show I was talking about they had a class for the younger tuner crowd. Not one showed! Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Sign of the times I guess...

I like the yearly Good Guys at Des Moines, always a ton of Mopars.
Outside of that I go to a couple cruise nights were folks drive around, yes they drive LOL.
much more fun behind the wheel instead of holding down a lawn chair looking at the trunk lid.
Central Iowa has a good crop of Mopars.

Truth is Mopars were rarely ever built in the same numbers as GM and Ford. Every Mopar owner I know has 2 or 3 in his garage and you can only drive one at a time. What I think is funny, my 65 gets more attention than all the other 55 Chevies and Mustangs and Camaros and new Vettes, etc. It never fails that every show I go to, somebody comes up and says "You sure don't see these cars anymore", whether or not they know what it is.

That's a good show. Still mostly gassers, camaros, mustangs, t-buckets and tri -fives. I saw over a thousand cars, only one wing car, one Super bee, and one GTX. Maybe a dozen beepers.

I still enjoy going to shows, although I don't often have time. I agree the Mopars are few and far between, but that also means that they stand out in the crowd. I always get quite a few people checking out my Limelight Air Grabber 70 Road Runner. Quite frankly, I have met some great people as well as some jerks at car shows. To be honest, I am not sure the brand of car they drive really makes a difference.

Yeah, so just about every Camaro gets a cowl induction hood, no different that just about every 70 Road Runner gets an Air Grabber. The only thing that stops everyone in the Mopar family from doing it is the cost. My favorite is definitely Mopar, but I like muscle cars in general. Sure, some good natured ribbing is all in fun, as long as it stays that way. The car hobby has enough things against it (like the government); us car guys and gals need to stick together a bit more!

I'll have to say I've met some good people at car shows. Most of my Mopar friends, I've met at car shows. I had the only Mopar in high school (40 years ago). This was strictly a GM town, Delco-Remy, Guide Lamp, all gone now.

Gotta say I've been going to a lot of local car shows and Mopars are in short supply. Only seen a few RR's, couple of Barracudas, 1 GTX, 2 Challenger's, 0 Chargers, 0 Super Bees. Why the lack of them?

Hey Rebel I see your in CT, Come check us out, October 13th, Mopars In Motion @ Kizl's Restaurant in Southington, all makes are welcome, but Mopars are showcased. mine will be there

I get real disappointed at most of the shows, when I'm the only Plymouth there. Then you see a fine example of a Mopar Rod, you walk over, you look and see that 350 sitting in there. Its just nicer to be amongst mopar enthusiasts, just got back Saturday from the Dallas Mopar Club event. Good Folks.....

I have a 33 Plymouth Coupe that is Mopar powered

Thanks Trefon! I live in the New Haven area so that's close by.

If you know anyone selling a 69 Charger (#1 Choice) or a 69 Super Bee or 69 RR, let me know. Not looking for any project cars that work on them (body, paint engine rebuild...).

Looking to buy ready to drive & enjoy as I have little to no time to work on a car. I am pretty good with tools and am not afraid to get dirty but I don't want to get bogged down fixing a car when I can get out & drive.
